Tiger Tiger Croydon – not to be confused with its larger Piccadilly sibling – offers out-of-towners a chance to let loose Late Night London style. With cheap drinks, pop tunes and a laid back vibe, you’ll need to leave your snobbery at the door.

The Venue
The only thing that Tiger Tiger Croydon has in common with its older Piccadilly twin is this is a large party venue, encompassing several areas. As you enter the club - past the obligatory bouncer - you are welcomed into a big, open plan space with booths and trendy seating areas. With a plethora of bars, a restaurant, club and a function room for private parties, you won’t be left to get bored of standing around in the same place for too long. The names may be cheesy – Tiger Bar, The Study, Kaz Bar, and Raffles Bar – but each is well laid out and the space makes getting a drink a whole lot easier on a pumping Friday night.

There is a restaurant to be found if you fancy a bite from their nothing-fancy pub grub menu – needed to line your stomach before the drinking ensues! Alternatively, if you’re really organised you can rent a booth for you and your mates to sit at, which is situated opposite the bar and can be reserved until 10.30pm free of charge.

If you wander up the impressive sweeping staircase you will discover the Tiger Club if you fancy a proper boogie. This is the main club area where the dancefloor is located, although you’ll see people happily dancing anywhere there’s standing room as this area does get pretty packed, hot and sweaty. The area where most people congregate is, of course, by the bar up here.

The Atmosphere
Tiger Tiger Croydon can get very busy at the weekends as a crowd - heavily made up of locals and party-goers from the surrounding Surrey area - travel as close into London as they can. However, the surprisingly helpful staff are fast and efficient and you’ll find you don’t have to wait too long to get served.

In all, the atmosphere is good - people just seem to be interested in having a laugh and a drink. Upstairs is busier and more buzzy than downstairs, the crowds being distributed by the type of music being played. You’ll notice mainly singles and groups of friends but if you play your cards right you could end up a couple by the end of the evening! This place is also commonly frequented by hen and stag parties – all in all, people wanting to go out for a night and let their hair down.

The Music
The music at Tiger Tiger Croydon is standard whatever night you go on, but varies across the areas. In some spaces you’ll find a bit of nostalgic '80s and '90s pop whereas in the Tiger club it is mainly drum and base with a bit of reggae thrown in for good measure for all the hardened clubbers out there!

The Drink
The drinks at Tiger Tiger Croydon include everything you’d expect in a bar or club at the going rate for the area, as well as a young bit of totty wandering around offering shots of tequila for a fiver a go. There’s a long wine menu, which is a little hit and miss – it may be worth splashing out a bit more for a bottle to avoid the vinegary aftertaste so common in the house bottles. A choice of around 15 whites and reds range from £12-£17 a bottle and are classified by grape, region and flavour, making deciding on a bottle easier for those unsure of what they’re buying. There’s also a choice of two bottles of rose at the £15 mark. If you want to splash out the most expensive Champagne is the Dom Perignon Brut Vintage for a whopping £111.

Alternatively, if cocktails are your thing then there’s a cheap menu (£5.10 a cocktail) of the classics, from Sea Breeze and Cosmos to Sex on the Beach and Vodka Red Bull. You can even have an expensive slant added to the drinks with the Champagne cocktails at just £6. Or, if you’re into something more simple then bottled beers, alcopops are also available.

The Last Word
Not for the shy retiring types out there, Tiger Tiger Croydon is great if you want a laugh, a boogie and a bit of a sore head in the morning!
