A brilliant little boozer in a prime location, run by friendly, knowledgeable staff. We are by no means regulars, yet when one of our party left their scarf behind at closing time one evening, a member of the bar staff chased us halfway to Charing Cross Road to give it back, apparently with no agenda other than just being nice.
It's a sign of the quality of the place that even the reviewer who couldn't get served managed to give it three stars........

This soulless central London pub refused to serve anyone who had marched against the government's ideological assault on the public sector on 26/3/11. We arrived at 3p. M., sober, well-dressed and orderly (and long before a small minority began causing trouble in other parts of the city) and were told by a particularly charmless bar maid to go away. Principled and decent people will know to take their business elsewhere

The Tom Cribb is an old skool no-nonsense boozer run by a gentleman by the name of Michael, whom has been a publican in the West End for over twenty years, so you'd be right to assume that this pub is run like clockwork. The pub has many regulars and is small so space quickly goes. Nice to find a proper pub near Leicester Square, not an area noted for quality drinking establishments - the Tom Cribb certainly is a suprise!

When I worked in Theatreland I used Tom Cribb and it was run by an Irish landlady called Josie and it was amazing then. Standing room only and a laugh a minute. It was one of Bass Taverns then don't know what it is now but I remember it was not a place you go to for food although they did do an amazing salt beef doorstep sandwich. Patrons were suits, theatre workers, actors, passing trade and some locals believe it or not. Oozing with character. No idea who Michael is but if he runs the ship like previous landlady he must be doing a great job! Well worth a pint!
