Traffic is the worst club\bar that I have been to. The sound system was ridiculous and I have never experienced anything as bad as this, even my iPod dock sounds better. The sound cut out so many times and everyone was silent. The remix was so terrible, every time you get into a song it suddenly changed. Music was good for 30 min and then started to get crap. I could say so much more. The experience was just depressing and I would never go back there.

Traffic club is a not A club it is a tiny bar that is overfilled. We had queue jump but all that means is you get into a smaller queue. Not easy and fast access. The cloakroom was full. Staff were useless and did not have a clue. Bar overpriced and only one moody lady serving upstairs. Try to sell you the more expensive wine because you are drunk!. A lady in the toilets doing nothing but asking you for money once you have been to the toilet. Our seating area was under the speakers so blew away our ears. The supposed seating area for our party of ten was 4 seats and even that was not organised when we arrived. The dance floor was just bar space and even that was rammed. Would def never go back. Wasted £10 getting in.

We went there for NYE party - Empire State of mind. It was a huge disappointment. Q-ing for over an hours even that we had tickets purchased online, just made it inside before midnight. No countdown at midnight, we could only guess. Staff was really unfriendly and had actually no idea of what they were doing. And the worst thing ever at 1.30 sharp, a power cut, which I believe was planned. So they closed the club straight away without even trying to find out the cause or fixing it. That way we missed the NY breakfast that was included in the price for the tickets. I could go on, but I think that's enough to give an impression of this venue.

I had an amazing night at Traffic! I went a couple of weeks ago for a friend's birthday and the music was great, we had booked a birthday deal through a promoter from "xclusivetouch" & had an excellent night that included a free table & bottle of champagne! Will definitely be using the same promotions team again as I'm aware they do other venues as well! If you'd like contact details for the promoter I went with, reply to this review & I'll pass them on!

Booked a birthday package on the 2nd of Oct for a group of my friends. We were very pleasantly surprised and very pleased with our night out.
The door staff were much friendlier than a lot in the West End and gave no hassle at all given the number of people trying to get in.Music was really good and nearly everyone was dancing , the upstairs bar was also buzzing.
Drinks were very reasonable for the type of venue and the cocktails were awesome. All in all great night out and already planning to go back asap.

I celebrated my 25th birthday just last Saturday 9th and I have to say i was very pleased with the venue. The promoter who i had dealt with made sure i had the whole birthday package i had requested.

When i arrived at the venue, the door staff were really friendly and nobody had any problem getting in. Even late comers were let in easily.

My table was reserved as expected and the waitress was lovely. The music was on point. The drinks were reasonably price and there were a good mix of people.

The only slight disadvantage was that the venue could have been a little bigger as the second floor was not happening so the majority of the people were on the ground floor.

All in all I had an awesome time and will certainly go back there again.

Thanks Traffic!

We visited Traffic in September 2010 for a 30th birthday party and we were all appalled with the venue.

We had booked a table which, when we arrived, wasn't available. Plonked in a corner, and next to a loud speaker, was not the kind of compromise we were prepared to stand for given all of us had collectively paid £120 to get in.

A straight forward refund would have been acceptable but given the lack of any front-of-house management we found ourselves in a stand off with the door staff. Who, rather strangely, threatened us with 'people who were waiting around the corner.' Unacceptable, even if we were perhaps more confrontational than their usual unhappy customers.

Suffice to say we got a refund. And we took it to a cracking few pubs around the corner.

It's a real shame that such a great part of London, and indeed a great building, is let down by its management. And the 'men around the corner'? They must have got stuck in traffic!

A regular venue for me been about 5 or 6 times in the last year for the Saturday night party. Although there are more glamarous places in Mayfair I like that Traffic is more relaxed on the door and doesn't break ur bank account to get in or reserve a table. Most times I have visited have been for a birthday party as they offer promotions to make sure the night goes well. Music is always on point and crowd is alot more relaxed then other venues. All in all a good place to host big parties stress free or just go for a little dance without all the showing off and "glam" of Mayfair

Good music when it's playing, cut out at 1:00am, no refund offered.

Cloakroom gave my jacket, with camera inside, to somebody else even though I still had the ticket.

Visited manager and he denied any responsibility. On the night, a friend had left earlier than us, so I described the individual to him, to which he replied that was the person who left with jacket, thus it is my fault for not flagging it up on the night.

Also accused me of drinking too much, and that made my memory of the night clouded.

Would give it 0/5 if possible.

Booked tickets for New Year here for the Film Noir Party! Was a terrible night. Complete waste of money!

Arrived at half 9 for the champagne reception (meant to be between 9-10pm) and had to all wait outside in the freezing cold for 20mins while their staff arrived and chatted in the warm lobby!

Was advertised as 'Film Noir 1920's..oozing in class and elegance...Red carpeted event..from themed waiters and celebrity appearances to 1920 cocktails and a stunning crowd'. I was also told over the phone that people would be dressed up!

So when we got in we were really surprised to find staff in normal
uniform, no decorations (apart from a few cheap balloons), no apology from anyone and the smallest club I had ever seen!

When I spoke to the manager (as I felt pretty silly at this point all dressed up) he was very brash and gave us a bottle of cheap champagne to shut us up.. shame none of us like champagne..

In total we prob spent about £85 each that night on transport, entrance and 2 drinks! ended up leaving just after the count down and was in bed by half 1!

Not recommended at all!

Really surprised there are some bad reviews of this place - I've been to Traffic a few times and always had an excellent time.

Its not massively expensive, staff are really nice, drinks are reasonable, music is great - ok, its not the biggest dancefloor in London but its friendly and non-pretentious.

Me and my friends love it!

Went here to celebrate my 18th birthday and was completely disappointed.

Read very good reviews online about reasonable drinks and a good atmosphere but when we arrived it was competely the opposite.

The place looks awesome from the outside and the bouncers were suprisingly friendly but...What is this place?

It's certainly not a club and is about the size of my bedroom. There is not a proper dance floor and cost us £10 to get in (which isn't so bad, but it's normally £15)

The only reason we were allowed in for that price was because of the lack of young girls, all the girls were older with weird spaced out guys (dont know if it was just the night we went)

Ended up staying for 10 minutes as music was utter crap, drinks were pricey and the atmosphere was dull (despite it being 2 o clock)would not recommend AT ALL.

We went on a Sat night at about 2 o clock and went purely on reviews! Also, don't go to movida or Monroes (which is now no.5 cavendish square)

I think if I was to have my night again I would have gone to Ministry of Sound as you're guaranteed a good night!

Will definitely be making up for a wasted night..

I went to Traffic last week for after work drinks after a recommendation from a friend and it turned out to be a perfect venue.

The happy hour prices are great value for money (you should definitely try the cocktails) and the bar food was just what we needed - platters with a mixture of Mediterranean style food - for all you humous lovers out there!

The bar had a nice atmosphere and the staff were very friendly, which makes a nice change compared to other places I've been to.

I've also been told that they have club nights on Fridays and Saturdays - I'll check those out too...maybe next week!

I had a superb night at Traffic last Wednesday, there was a live funk band called Nexus playing who i have to say was as good a live performance i've seen in years.

The atmosphere was brilliant and the crowd loved the music. This venue is the perfect set up for a live band with a small staging area on the ground floor and a great sound system. I certainly recommend to check it out....

I'm Traffic's biggest fan! What I love about this bar is its ambience!

The bar/club is intimate, the decor is stylish, the staff have always been friendly and helpful (especially now that the manager has been replaced - the one that was always smoking outside!!!)

and the cocktails are not to be missed! (which by the way are not overpriced AT ALL especially for a club!

Hi , visited Traffic on a Wednesday and was surprised by a live band playing called Nexus. Apparently they play every other Wednesday.

They were fantastic ,that night they played a Michael Jackson tribute , but normally its Jazz / Funk. The atmosphere was great and the crowd funky.

Cocktails were wonderful and the place itself was really nice.Definitely plan to go again with more friends, must check on the dates though.

I was told Fridays and Saturdays they also have club nights after 9.30pm.

I have been to Traffic on a few occasions. I must say that I have nothing but nice things to say about this venue.

The promoters have always been very friendly when I have called them to sort out a guestlist or sort out a table.

The lady at the door is so friendly and polite and the security are welcoming too, which makes a change.

Although the venue isn't huge, the music is great, the atmosphere is great as well as the Bar staff and the DJ.

I highly recommend going to Traffic!!!

Geez where to begin- DONT GO HERE!!! The bouncers are on a total ego trip!! but the worst one of all is the lady at the cloakroom- she is nightmare- rude and abrupt.

when we arrived it was raining so we wanted to check in our coats but she didn't want to take our umbrella's! imagine trying to party with your umbrella?! she has a huge attitude problem- avoid at all costs.

the crowd are quite rough i didn't feel that safe and i feel that if anything were to happen the bouncers wouldn't make the situation any better.

the bar staff are friendly- the only saving grace but if you can put up with a whole lot of attitude as you come through the door then it might be your cup of tea.

frankly for that money you can get a much better service.

On your comment on the bouncers, they were fine when I was there and were bouncers at any other club - but in a way I prefer it when they come across a bit intimidating as it helps keep everyone in line!

25 of us partied at Traffic on Saturday 20th June 2009 for mine and my friend's joint birthday celebration.

The lady on the door was really friendly and although it was agreed that only 6 of us could have free entry they allowed another 4 of our friends free entry and the rest guestlist price.

Two tables were reserved for us upstairs. The DJ played excellent tunes right until the very end.

Everyone was dancing and having fun. Drink prices are probably average compared to other clubs in Central London.

Traffic definitely has a great atmosphere and my friends and I will definitely club there again. A big thank you to Xclusive promoters.

Music and crowd were okay at this venue BUT the biggest letdown is it's MANAGEMENT.

Totally rude management staff, including doormen and promoters that want to shift the blame onto the management who then shift it back onto promoters/doormen.

Manager on the Saturday night i went to was extremely rude, didn't want to listen to his customers, was far too busy enjoying his cigarettes outside rather than dealing with his clientele.

Would never look into hiring this venue again or going there on a night out.

There are far more friendlier and expensive clubs around that give twice as much customer service than this place.

Waste of time and money.

I had the misfortune to go to Traffic on Saturday 31st January 2009. We were on the guestlist but so apparently was everyone else. The queue was split in two and the ignorant power tripping bouncer was letting only one side in. It was freezing and we queued for over an hour, we would have gone somewhere else but it was a friend's leaving do. We were shivering and when we finally got in, my friend still had to wait. The place is small but the music was kicking. The drinks were overpriced and the bar staff had attitude problems. The place was packed and stank of B.O. Worst club experience of my life.

I think it always depends on who is running the night as promoters and event managers regularly change I've noticed so you cant always know what to expect. May visit on a Friday to see if I notice any difference but giving it 4/5 for my visits..only -ve was no upstairs dj when I went (downstairs dj was great!)

My friend booked a table for her birthday. the table cost us a couple of hundred. When we got there we were wholly dissapointed. Firstly the venue was tiny. I was overjoyed when i saw some stairs thinkin there must be a huge area upstairs but unfortunately upstairs was even smaller. we had three miniscule tables and some stupid stalls and that was what they called reserved seating. I cant beleive we paid for such a ridiculous area. To add insult to injury half way through the night another party were squeezed next to us and by the end of the night there were other people sitting in our reserved seating. We complained to management who asked the teenage looking girls to move but ten minutes later they were back again sitting all over our stuff. It was terrible. The crowd was full of fist year uni students, drunk and jumping around dropping there drinks. Loads of sleezy guys and girls in some realy unflattering outfits. To tell the truth i was soo glad when the lights came on and it was time to go. But then there was drama trying to get our coats out as one of our mates had already left with one of the coat tickets. So despite us describing excatly what our coats looked like the stupid cloak room girl forced us to wait till everyone had left the stupid club till we could get our coats. It was pathetic. Avoid this place like the plague!

ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH AND DISAPPOINTING. There needs to be a big improvement on door staff's attitude and behaviour. I think they need to be trained on how to treat people waiting to get into the club fairly. There are two queues for guestlist and the bouncer decided to see to only to the left hand side of the queue. Which was unfair on everybody on the right hand side. The bouncer tried to say he was letting 5 people in from one side and 5 people in from the other side. this was completely untrue. The bouncer then turned on my friend and threatened him. which was completely uncalled for. he said he will give him beef. The bouncers actual problem was with the people in front of us because they were all boys and he didnt want to let them in, therefore leaving a whole load of people waiting who were not very happy, as you can imagine. We got in after waiting an hour an half. It was my birthday so I had to go in. My friends in the queue, left. AT THE BAR - While we were waiting to be served by the bar man, he thought it was more important he served himself a big (double/triple) whisky and down it. Everyone was open mouthed and couldn't believe what he was doing. It took ages to get served at the bar and when we did get our drink it was the completely wrong drink they served us. MUSIC - The music was disappointing and the place had a bad atmosphere. My friends and I did not enjoy this night at all. I had spent alot of time organising this night and it was a complete let down. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THIS CLUB.

Absolutely RUBBISH! I don't understand how this place could be classified as a club. The place is really small but they try to pack as many people in as possible so you can't even dance. My friend who's birthday it was, booked an area for 23 people, we each had to pay £10 for this privelage. When we arrived, they showed us the table in the upstairs bar area - ONE small table (with seating for 6 people), the rest of our area was overtaken by another party. We raised this issue with the manager, who was totally incompetent!! All he said was ' I can't do anything because other people booked too.' then walked away!!! Trying to get drinks was a mission - there was literally 1 person serving at the bar.We wanted to forget this and try to enjoy the night, so we decided to grab our coats and bags go to the dance floor. We took our stuff to put into the cloakroom BUT they had run out of space in their cloakroom (which was actually a small wardrobe behind the cashier). In the end we had to dump our stuff on our 'booked' table upstairs whilst taking turns to guard it. The whole night ended up being a complete effort to enjoy ourselves, but it just was not a enjoyable experience at Traffic. AVOID AT ALL COST!

One of the worst clubs I've ever been to. 23/07/08.

It's true, the bouncers do not put up with trouble, only because the moment anyone "raises" their voice to them, they switch from being friendly to completely obnoxious people. They refuse to listen to what you have to say, interrupt before you get to finish what you wanted to say, and then have the audacity to tell you to stop shouting when they clearly started raising they're voice first.

We were overcharged on our drinks 5 for the price of 4. Upon questioning why our drinks came up to so much, a rude barman intervened.Without even listening to what happened, he printed out the receipt and read it to us. Yes, we paid for 3 drinks to begin with, then ordered an extra 1. When someone charges you £11 for a drink you got to question this right? Upon figuring out they were wrong, there was no word of apology. Whatever happened to hospitality?

Then we had a bouncer trying to poach a drink off us. Believe this when I say this is true. My friend was targetted even before we got into the club.No one else was asked for their I.D except him. When he showed his bus driver licence to him. He was told it was a fake and in return for letting him into the club, he had to buy the bouncer a drink. My friend was then hunted down by this bouncer in the club. When he refused to buy this drink, the bouncer tried to turf him out. I intervened to question what was wrong. "This has nothing to do with you" was the reply, oh and "stop shouting" became another repetitive comment. Well excuse me, if my friend was going to get turfed out, I would like to know the reason as to why. If he was so sure his licence was a fake, I would suggest he calls up TFL and DVLA to clarify whether the I.D was fake or not. Not only was this guy was wrong in trying to poach a drink off you, clearly not the brightest either.

Oh yes, and the last incident. A spilt drink does not get you an apology in there. Even if it's their staff's fault.

Thank you for this interesting review. I think most, if not all Bar owners seriously need to review there door staff policy. It is becoming a regular topic on nearly all the reviews I have viewed, on how rude the door staff are. When you arrive at your destination, the first impression you get of the venue is the door staff. I hope the Bar management/owners actually read these reviews, as I do think a lot of this door thuggery goes on unnoticed.
I have never been to Traffic, and on reading your review I intend on never going to Traffic!

I was in traffic on Sat 5th April.

This place is pretty cool actually, now I notice it's got mixed reviews.

Anyway the music was absolutely my taste and was a tasteful mix of old school and new songs. The bar staff are friendly and I agree that they don't show a hint of pretentiousness. I was gob smacked at the prices. I paid £5 for a corona. I think that’s a record or something. For fear of crippling debt I stuck to Redbull (£2.90). Although this place touts itself like a west-end club (and prices too) it doesn't have the scourge of drunk morons hanging around outside and inside.

I found the clientele to be cool apart from some who couldn't handle their drink and couldn't dance to save their lives (bad combo). I liked the door staff as they were funny to watch (they did hunt the ladies quite a bit though :P ) and they're no-nonsense approach to troublemakers was impressive.

I left this place wanting to bring my usual mates along (I was with a birthday crowd I didn't know) so it was obviously a good impression. The girls in this place are as mind blowing as the drink prices! Especially two stunning mixed-race girls (promoters I think) who I couldn't stop noticing), you do feel like you're in a VIP lounge with the types in here but good fun. The cloak-room girl was cute and friendly too!

So... Bring the prices down, re-think the table booking service and give the manager's wages to the rest of the staff - and this venue will be EXCELLENT!

The drinks were reasonably priced and the music was great! All in all I'd suggest it to anyone celebrating a birthday or looking for a fun night without the usual west end antics!

I visited Traffic on 14/02/08. This venue is sterile and soul-less. I ordered 2 different, badly made cocktails & was flabbergasted that the bar staff couldn't manage a Cosmopolitan. It had no cranberry juice in it, instead lemon and lime juice. The Bramble tasted like cough medicine. The chips we ordered were un-cooked in the middle (crunchy) and somehow soggy at the same time. Aweful.

Totally agree, Traffic is rubbish.
Bad Music, poor management,
Plenty of other bars in London to spend your money in, just not here!

No idea what happened with the people below, in my experience, Traffic is a fantastic place to go!!!

They don't seem to just let "anybody" in - perhaps this is a good thing???

I've been there a good few times in the last few months, the staff are always lovely, really helpful, prices are good, great atmosphere and I love the music.

Don't be put off going to this place.
