Unchanged and unspoilt, The Troubadour is timelessly eclectic and modernly avant garde, offering an assorted blend of artistic ambiences in a trendy and cool environment popular with the contemporary hippie culture of students, writers, filmmakers and musicians.

The Venue
Fashionably dated, the '50s style coffee house interior and assortment of eclectic bohemian accessories provide a charming character to a venue that goes against the current minimalist trend. Downstairs has an entirely different feel with its low ceilings, soft lighting and secluded coves, providing a somewhat gritty and unkempt look that seems to complement both the performers and customers.

Mention must be made of the unisex toilets where the large fountain like multi-tapped hand basin lays dominant as a grand centrepiece, adjoining the two sets of stalls. Although it’s quite taboo, this is definitely a great place to meet new people.

The Atmosphere
Buzzing with bohemia, The Troubadour is an artist retreat, muse and rostrum all rolled into one. It is alive with the energy that creativity and raw talent exude, and yet it can also be peaceful and tranquil.

The Music
Dedicated to the arts, The Troubadour offers a great events programme spanning the week where artists of any nature and experience can come together to play to like-minded audiences. This is a stage where poetry meets film, where musical legends and novices can stand together, where anything goes and, most importantly, where art, creativity and talent are celebrated.

The Food
This is a place that believes in ‘good food not cheap food’ and this is what you’ll get, with a full menu served from 9am until midnight in the cafe, sidelined with the well stocked deli. Taking inspiration from different world cuisines, they provide a good selection of hearty, wholesome and lovingly prepared foods for every taste.

The Drink
Far from run of the mill, The Troubadour strays from the regular range of pub refreshments and instead offers a selection of tea, coffee, bottled beer and cider. With a good spirit selection and a notably extensive wine list to match, it juxtaposes its quaint English coffee house interior with the exotic and interesting tastes of the world.

The Last Word
Prices are high, but the quality is higher. A regular hotspot for arty types, The Troubadour is everything you would expect a live music venue to be.
