This gay cabaret bar and dance club means the local crowd doesn’t have to venture all the way into the West End to party.

The Venue
This institution has been serving beer to the gay community for over 26 years. Like any lady of advancing years, the Two Brewers has had many makeovers since its '80s heyday. The inoffensive decor currently teeters somewhere between modern and traditional.

From the street you’ll enter Cabaret Bar. However, there’s also a large club bar at the back, and a cloakroom and toilets on the first floor. Smokers are catered for with a pavement-side, seated smoking area with a canopy and heaters. There’s wheelchair access around the ground floor and a disabled toilet between the cabaret and club bars.

The Atmosphere
A diverse crowd of local gay men, lesbians and their mates drop by the Two Brewers for cabaret, karaoke and company. Expect a wide range of ages too. It can be cruisey, but many people are there to unwind and enjoy the entertainment. If you fancy a more unusual night out, then check out the salsa classes in the Club Bar. These classes are open to everyone and cost £8 per session.

The Music
In the Cabaret Bar there are live DJs most nights, whilst the club bar is currently open Friday and Saturday nights. Expect to hear anything from funky house to pop and RnB.

The Food
For the last year the Two Brewers has made a large selection of pub grub available. It’s served daily from midday-10.30pm. If you just want a snack then choose from a score of sandwiches and wraps on offer including tuna and cheese melt, Cajun chicken and blue cheese, or the indulgent sounding Texan steak, onion rings, cheese and BBQ sauce wrap all for under £5 a dish. You can also order hot and hearty British favourites like fish and chips, steak and ale pie, Cumberland sausage and mash, and a range of steaks, including a 4oz with accompanying scampi, all for under a tenner. There are around dozen hamburgers to tempt you at just £3.95 each.

More extravagant combinations such as the chicken, cheese and bacon burger, a chilli burger or you can totally pig out on the ultimate burger (cheese, bacon, mushrooms, fried egg and onion rings). Meat eaters get the most choice, but there are vegetarian options such as the Quorn sausage with red onion chutney sandwich, veggie sausage and mash and roasted vegetable lasagne.

The Drink
Monday is Pink Pounder night with all drinks £1.50 (excluding, of course, bottles of wine and Champagne) or shots for £1 if you want to get really blasted. On other nights, you’ll find house wine starting from £2.90 for 175ml glass, plus a wide range of booze on draught including Guinness, Strongbow, Kronenbourg, Fosters, Heineken and Amstel lager, with prices starting at £2.70 for a pint of Carling.

The Last Word
Two Brewers isn’t the coolest gay bar on the planet, but one that at least offers something for everyone including cabaret to gawp at, hotties to cruise, and a large dancefloor to spin around when you’ve had one too many.
