The ViewLondon Review
Do you like your sports on a giant screen? Fancy sampling kangaroo or springbok meat? Do you mind sticky floors? If the answers to these questions are yes – and you like being shoulder to shoulder with Aussies and Kiwis – then Walkabout Inn is the place for you.The VenueThe Walkabout Inn is a huge, cavernous space right on Shepherds Bush Green. It's built to accommodate large crowds for, as they put it, ‘Awesome sport and Live entertainment.’ Spread over two levels, they can sure pack ‘em in. There are no fewer than 10 screens above the bar alone with others scattered around the room and a massive, movie-sized screen, for projecting matches on. There is also a stage area for live gigs.
The AtmosphereThere's a young crowd at Walkabout Inn – cheerful and up for a party. It can get a bit rowdy, but that adds to the fun and there are BIG bouncers to sort things out. The bar staff are also eager to keep the mood up. They also host special events such as the Beach Babes Model Competition.
The FoodThere’s a huge menu with snacks, sharing platters, salads (fancy a kangaroo fillet salad at £5.25?), grilled dishes, a staggering selection of burgers, sandwiches and desserts. There is something for everyone on this menu. Whether you're up for a meal or a snack, they’ve got you covered and it won’t cut too much into your drinking budget.
The DrinkWalkabout Inn has your normal beers on tap with a few unexpected offerings in the shape of Budweiser and Steinlager (a New Zealand beer). There are also bottled beers, spirits, shooters and a better-than-usual offering of wine by the glass or bottle at budget-happy prices. You can afford to pick up a round here.
The Last WordYou can’t beat the camaraderie of Walkabout Inn and it makes for one of the most exciting places to watch a big game – especially when England plays Australia at rugby!
