I went to the Walrus and Carpenter on Friday 11th November for lunch with five friends and I have to say that the food was terrible. I ordered the warm Halloumi salad and it was drenched with olive oil. There was literally a pool of oil at the bottom of my plate. One of my friends had a grilled chicken sandwich and the middle of the chicken was raw. I kid you not. Raw. I don't suggest that you order food from this place as you could get seriously ill!
This place is good for drinks only but I wonder about the cleanliness here. If they don't pay attention to what they serve you, will they pay attention to anything else?

Very disappointed.

This pub is a local to my work which i occasionally visit. It's a nice enough pub with friendly staff and a good selection of beers on tap.

Good place to start a night to go onto other more bar/club places in the area or for a quick pint after work.

They also have dining space upstairs which is good for traditional pub lunches with a good menu featuring the likes of fish and chips, pies, etc..

The Walrus and Carpenter is a decent enough pub split into two upstairs rooms and a downstairs wine bar. Its recent redecoration has left it uncomfortably bright, but this should dull down with time (and nicotine). There's not a huge amount to say about the Walrus and Carpenter, the beer is average, the Lewis Carroll theme has not been exploited - it's just an ordinary City boozer.
