The ViewLondon Review
The Warwick Arms is to be found in the area down the western end of High Street Kensington. In between Talgarth Road, Olympia and Holland Park, this is definitely residential central. However, there are a few pubs worth checking out in the area, and this is definitely one of them.
Subscribing fully to the traditional pub aesthetic, the Warwick Arms is decked out in the standard uniform of wooden floors, wood panelled walls and exposed brickwork. It’s not particularly groundbreaking, and neither should it be. This is the kind of place you come to mutter conspiratorially with a friend, not show off your four figure heels.
There are a few concessions to noughties lifestyle drinking, namely sofas as well as old fashioned wooden chairs that remind you (painfully) to sit bolt upright. A very welcome addition I think you’ll agree.
The beer comes from the nearby Fullers brewery, and its freshness and quality has been noted by numerous beer aficionados. Indeed, the pub is within spilling distance of Olympia, which hosts the annual CAMRA beer festival, and I’m advised that it picks up plenty of custom around that time.
If you’re after a pleasant pub with good beer credential in the Kensington area then the Warwick Arms is definitely worth seeking out.
