The ViewLondon Review
The Westbourne is one of the more popular drinking establishments in West London. And with good reason. A fun crowd, great location, good selection of draught beer, interesting food menu - there are many reasons to choose this pub above the others in the area.
The Venue
The Westbourne is not your bog standard English boozer. Its interior features polished floorboards and interesting artwork and photographs, as well as a prominent bar painted green. Out the front is a well-organised terrace, which is an appealing drinking and meeting spot in the summer, and even in the winter thanks to the placement of several gas burners.
The space is fairly confined; however, this adds to the atmosphere by encouraging conversation between strangers. The interior is a clutter of tables, chairs and large groups of people.
The Atmosphere
The Westbourne is a popular pub. In the summer, the crowd on the front terrace spills out onto the street, although the erection of a rope has restrained the spill-out somewhat. In the winter, the inside of the pub is inevitably jam packed. This is a good drinking spot for singles, as the crowd is invariably an attractive one.
The Food
The Westbourne serves great food, although the menu could be considered a little high brow for a lot of young hedonists. The menu changes regularly with dishes like oysters (£7.50), soup (£4) and a variety of fish alongside more meatier options like pheasant and pork loin. Chips, wedges and nachos it isn’t.
The Drink
The Westbourne serves a good selection of beer on tap alongside a reasonably-priced selection of white and red wine. If you're after draught beer, there's plenty of choice including San Miguel, Dortmunder, Leffe Blond, Hoegaarden and Old Speckled Hen, with most pints coming in at under £3. There are also bottled beers, including Becks, Budvar and Tiger.
The Last Word
A good food and drink selection at reasonable prices and a thriving ambience make this one of the busiest pubs in the area.
