Had an excellent meal the other night. We chose from the special menu that seems to change regularly. The food was delicious and very good value for money. As ever the staff were so attentive and friendly. A really enjoyable evening.
love this spot - it's beautiful, the food is great, and the service friendly. i had a party in the upstairs and it was perfect! definitely one of my favorite spots around old st.
A great little place between Old Street and Islington. It's such a homely pub too. The staff are wonderful, as are the food and drink. Unquestionably worth a visit.
The William is fast becoming my favourite local pub in Shoreditch!
Had dinner there last week and the food was excellent! Be back soon..
Escape the horrible weather outside and head to the William IV, roaring coal fire surrounded the a chesterfield and big armchairs
Wow, looks like the William IV is in new hands, went for a cracking lunch with work mates last week, Burger was one of the best i have ever had. good selection of vege stuff as well which kept some of the office girls happy. Cant wait to go back.

Went in recently and found a Jazz night on it was great, friendly staff and good beer
The William IV is opening Friday 11th December after a refurb
Love this pub, but recently walked by and saw that it is closed until further notice... anyone know what happened?
A beautiful pub that I'd be told about by my friends many a times so thought it was time to check it out.
Wow is all I can say, cosy interiors, great music and the friendliest bar staff that I've come across in a long time.
As a whole this local boozer has a lot to offer, I went mid week which had a great ambience where you can relax and catch up with friends.
The William's most definitely going to become my local boozer.
Sweet little boozer and run by lovely staff, the atmosphere is always chipper and they have good guest beers on tap.
I've eaten here a couple of times and although it's not of the same standard as Jamie Oliver's 15 restaurant around the corner, you will be well fed and the bill isn't anything to jump out of your seat about.
All in all i would say a great pub in an area where it can sometimes be tricky to find even a good one.
The William is the perfect local pub, great simple food at a reasonable price, warm friendly atmosphere, unique and interesting decor and the entertainment and events they put on are always a roaring success.
I am a regular, have eaten here many times and always enjoyed the food and drink and the overall William experience.
We had our work do here last Christmas and everyone agreed it was one of the best.
If you want high end restaurant food and service, then go to a restaurant, and the prices that go with it and if you want to dance 'till dawn to banging tunes, go to a nightclub ; )
If you want a good night out (or lunch) in a decent London boozer, then go to the William. If only they had a garden it would have got 5 stars from me.

I love the William IV it has become my favorite London pub (and I have been to a few)
It is the perfect combination of friendly faces honest well prepared food and great beers.
The William has that rare gift of being a special individual place that is run by people that really care about your experience of a good night out in good boozer.
Thank you William IV
O dear, what a shame to read the below reviews.
William iv is my local and I love it. The staff are always friendly and smiley, a rare thing nowadays in central london pubs.
I organized a party here and I was informed of all the noise issue and volume restrictions.
The party was a great success, even when the restrictions and music times were enforced. A difficult thing to do with drunken revelers.
The william is perfect for relatively quiet intimate parties.
Perhaps the reviewer below chose the wrong place for 'a crazy night out'.
Its a residential neighbourhood pub, not a nightclub and with the normal, unpretentious food so much the better for it.
This is my regular and in my opinion the finest boozer in East London. Great food, friendly staff and an unpretentious but cosy atmosphere.
The ideal place for lunch or meeting before headed out in to town.

Had my birthday party there. My saddest ever bday. It was supposed to be a crazy night out.
However, at 11:30, the music was turned off. The explanation was that the council officers came to ask them to do so because of the complaints they received.
For Fxxx sake, i mean, i regret that i read the previous comments so late. Since they knew they wouldn't be playing loud music after 11:00, why did they still agreed when i requested.
I clearly stated that i wanted to party until 2 am. I would never, ever ever go there again. hate it so much!!!
Read this first if you are considering hiring the geography room for a party:
I recently djed at a 40th birthday party in the geography room.
Firstly I was given misinformation on the equipment - the mixer was a far inferior model (a cheap Numark) to the one I was originally promised (a much more expensive Vestax).
Worse than this, the venue was hired until 1.30am (bar til 1.00am) - however, from 11.00pm I was asked by staff to turn the volume of the music right down, since for the past month the venue has been getting complaints from local residents about noise.
This was not made clear to me beforehand, and if I had known this was going to happen there is no way I would have used the venue.
To add insult to injury I was told to turn off the music completely at 1.10am - 20 minutes before the time originally agreed.
So be warned: the venue itself is ok, but if you want to play music at a level that people can dance to after 11pm, then look elsewhere.
very disappointed with the food there. Went for the credit crunch lunch, app, the quality has been crunched too.
what a wicked place.
The William staff pulled off the perfect New Years Eve party.
hoorah!
Had a Sunday lunch here recently. Nice pub, good selection of beers and ciders, but the overwhelming impression with regard to the food was one of disorganisation. The staff seemed pleasantly bemused, as though whomever should have been in charge was unexpectedly absent. Some of our orders were wrong, although corrected quickly, and the food was reasonable but average. Certainly expected more given the price and considering what else is available in the area.
I'd go back for a drink but wouldn't recommend the Sunday roast, alas.
The William IV is a king among pubs. Step inside and you'll find it hard to leave. Great food, good service. William IV has such a good vibe once you're inside you will never want to leave, and we rarely do before last orders!
I had another boozy lunch at the William IV and the food was great. Try the pie, the puddings are good too. The staff looked after me like royalty as we lounged by the fire, and the people coming through the doors of the William IV looked pretty interesting too.
Love William IV. It has a really freindly atmosphere and staff. Very modern design finish. Great beers on tap, lovely food. All good at William IV.
William IV has just got so much better! Their menu has me eating in there practically every weekend, which is not such good news for my wallet but my belly is happy. I'd definitely recommend William IV!
