Be very careful.... exited via the side door in September last year and fell down the stairs. There was no lighting or handrail and the steps are different heights.
Broke leg and ankle ...... still not right.... take care.
Was surprised at previous review. My partner & I went in last week & had a great time. The food was really good & the service was pleasant & speedy. We were also served by an "older lady" but she was very warm & welcoming, would recommend this place to anyone looking for a proper pub for a pint & a relax
Awful, rude staff. Will NOT be returning.
Awful service - the elderly lady at the bar was extremely sarcastic and condescending when we tried to order our food. Will not be returning.
Very good Thai food, great for sitting and people watching. Interesting selection of real ales that change often, still manage to try most of them though and they're usually very well kept. Staff are friendly and polite and the food service is really fast, specially at lunchtime when I'm usually in a rush myself!!
Always lively on a Thursday or a Friday for post-work drinks nice mix of locals, theatre bods & office workers - decent beer, well priced spirits and various cocktails too. Another pub with a Thai kitchen, but the grubs is good and service is pretty decent at this one, unlike some you find - also worth checking out for all the sports on at the weekend as well, if your in that part of town
Terrible service, rude staff.
Under new management apparently. BAD don't go!
The pub is in a great location and looks great with it's new refurbishment, the drinks are a little pricey but so are all the pubs in that area, they serve thai food which was excellent and was almost as good as the food i had in chang mai, the staff were very friendly, my only complaint is all those screens and no sky football?
The Windmill Tavern is handily located between Waterloo and the Old Vic. It feels like a real showbiz haunt, with photos of actors who have appeared at the theatre adorning the walls. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and was impressed with the service – I’ll definitely be going back to The Windmill next time I’m in town.
I also work in a bar in London and I must say, every rule about assisting the public goes out the window with Windmill Tavern.
They might try to preach pedigree with pictures on the wall but this place has the foresight of 2mm. Every moment at Windmill Tavern felt like they were doing me a favour of giving them my hard earned money. Despair, despair, and despair.
