We tried this place a few months ago just after we moved into the area, having seen the signs advertising the Sunday roast dinners. Myself and my partner both had the roast beef, and while i don't mind roast beef being a little pink, this was basically blue, as though the joint of meat has just been seared in a pan and then carved. The roast potatoes were disappointing in their lack of crispness and the gravy was flavourless and watery. The warm chocolate dessert I ordered turned out to be a slightly stale cold chocolate cheesecake, while the Neal's Yard dairy cheeses my partner had were past their best. Pretty disappointing as the place itself is in a nice setting and is fairly well decorated inside. We may go back, although we haven't done so yet, but if we did we would avoid the roast dinners. I'd rather not eat something in a restaurant that I feel I could cook better at home.

I love this bar. There is an excellent selection of wines; even the House wines, which are extremely affordable, are fantastic. Lovely atmosphere - no posers, just (usually City) people out for a nice drink. Suprisingly young clientele (late 20s, early 30s) considering that it is rather a sophisticated bar! I cannot rave enough about the food - the best steak I've had outside a restaurant in London. Thick, and perfectly cooked. (Although, I do advise avoiding the triple cooked chips - they were rather too crunchy & dry, as you can imagine). Staff are very pleasant (and rather attractive). Only (very minor) gripe, is that on every occasion I have been, it has not had music - some contempory tunes (avoiding standard bar music) would be a welcome addition.

Good feeling about this place immediately upon entering , friendly staff , well arranged interior and atmospheric . Ample selection of beer and wine and spaciously apart tables . The menu was interesting , varied and all the food fresh . All three of us were very impressed .

Wood Street Bar and Restaurant opened recently near my work and with a bit of space, a reasonable range of beers and wines and friendly and helpful staff it's a pleasant change from the usual Moorgate venue, most of which are City scrums. I also ate there at Christmas and the food was good. Actually the Wood Street risotto was superb!

It's so easy to lose a Saturday or Sunday in The Wood Street Bar - very comfortable, good prices and lovely service. If you're ever in Moorgate pop into Woodstreet. Well, that is unless you have something to do...

Wood Street do some good stuff - there's quality beers and some food that is really very nice indeed. If you happen to be in Moorgate then you can do a lot worse than go to Wood Street - it's really not bad at all.

My girlfriend and I went to Wood Street Bar and Restaurant for some drinks but the food looked so good we decided to stay for dinner. The food was as good as we had hoped and made a return visit to Wood Street a very enticing prospect.
