The ViewLondon Review
A Camden institution, the Worlds End is a massive pub, offering metalheads, locals, rockers and tourists a place to enjoy a rowdy pint.
The Venue
As soon as you come out of Camden underground station you are faced with the trademark red brick building that is the Worlds End. A huge pub spread over three levels, the main room focuses on the magnificent centre bar with plenty of space and seating towards the edges of the room. The high glass ceiling makes this room seem even bigger than it actually is and a spiralling staircase leads to the upstairs mezzanine balcony area, where there are long wooden tables and chairs. The other bar is to the right of the main room and is a better place to get served during peak hours.
The Worlds End pub is full of character and is rooted in history. The main bar still has signs of the marketplace that originally inhabited the building. Shop fronts also feature along the left side of the bar and traditional furnishings and exposed brickwork make up the décor. If you like doodling, join in the previous artists that have left their mark on the long tables.
The Atmosphere
It seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry frequent the Worlds End, resulting in a light-hearted, diverse crowd. It’s rowdy and it’s loud, but it’s fun. Many customers are on their way to the Underground club next door, or many of the other late night venues in the area. If you are looking to stay put, this place is also a good choice for a varied night of fun and frolics.
The Drink
Nearly every type of spirit is stocked behind the bar, and on draught there’s the loopy Lowenbrau, Tetley’s, Carling and Carlsberg. Prices are reasonable for a Camden venue and the staff are friendly and efficient.
The Last Word
With its lively atmosphere, this pub is a good place to start a night out. It might get messy but most people at the Worlds End like it that way.
