Only reason this has a 1 star rating is because it wouldn't let me put in a 0 star rating. Just had to wait 45 mins for 2 chicken and bacon sandwiches and when it finally arrived (after getting back chat for having the cheek to ask how much longer our food would be) didn't find enough chicken to fill a single McNugget. After it being taken away and return (with the same original and now cold chips alongside) with no apology or explanation other than a "I'm gonna kill someone in the kitchen" comment from the waiter/barman it is safe to say that we'll not be returning there for lunch again.

Obviously just concentrating on the passing tourist trade who won't be around to return or complain.

Having been a regular at this traditional pub, I was somewhat dismayed when I went to Ye Olde London recently only to discover that the refurb has turned it into a gothic horror theme park of sorts. Despite this rather garish decor, Ye Olde London still has a few selling points. There is an excellent variety of beer on tap - including Young's, London Pride, Everards and Adnams and an extensive food menu ranging from doughballs or nachos to fish and chips or steak and back again through pasta and baked potatoes. On my late afternoon visit the smaller upstairs bar was doing excellent business with family tourist groups (this being the school holidays) chomping away. It'll do as an alternative to the All Bar One next door but don't think for a minute that this is what old London was ever about.
