I thought the food was excellent, and at a very reasonable price considering the location. Felt they got the atmosphere right, as when I visited in early evening there was some chilled music on, but nothing too intrusive, although I could understand it may get rowdy later in the evening when it is busier. Also enjoyed the cocktails. A new find, but plan to make this one a regular.
I find the reviews here baffling!
The service at Yelo is prompt and friendly in a cheap, cheerfully sociable canteen environment. The food is authentic and tasty, always served piping hot in decent portions.
This is not a high-end restaurant so don't expect the world, but you'll definitely struggle to find better food on a budget in the lower reaches of Hackney or Shoreditch.
Use Yelo as a delivery option. It is reasonably quick, and good value for money, and is better than the pizza option. Yelo is definitely worth a chance.
We ordered delivery from Yelo to our office, and then they called up and told us the food had been nicked from the bike! The manager said "I'm talking to the delivery guy right now and he has just had the food stolen", just as the real delivery man knocked on our door. Something very odd is going on Yelo.
We wobbled over to Yelo after some drinks at the Lovely Lounge Love. The food in Yelo is good quality Thai, the rice portions were a little small though so if you are hungry remember to order 2 portions. I got worried when leaving (I was trailing at the back of the group) and was sent off under a hail of monkey chants and aggression unbelievably coming from the serving staff. I didn't dare turn round to confront them, as I am female. I didn't tell my mates either. Very, very strange and I will never ever return to Yelo! It really spoilt a very good evening for me.
Bar Yelo in Shoreditch is not my idea of a good time. On the night I was there, the music was far too loud and the toilets disgusting. On that experience, won't be visiting Bar Yelo again any time soon.
