I seldom write reviews on wine bars and clubs however I thought a sincere review on Z Bar will just be right!

Occasionally, I find myself in this lovely bar, either meeting up with friends or popping in for a tipple when I am in Brixton. There's truly something unique about this venue from the music, to the atmosphere and the cosmopolitan mix you find in there. I just have so much fun every time I visit Z bar.

Frankly put, it's not the ritziest of bars neither would the convenience section be described as impressive. However, for a chilled night out and a generally fun loving crowd, Z bar surely will come high on anyone's list.

I went to the Z Bar last week for my friend's birthday, this is after a work colleague said the food in there is sub-standard. He said he had leathery, stale wings and oven chips. Anyway, I had curried mutton and rice and peas. All I can say is, sack the chef and abandon the microwave which doesn't warm food up properly.

What's the lack of imagination salad about too? Horrible. Cocktails are £7.50! Nicely made but over-priced. A restaurant, it is not. Nice decor though. A few years ago, Z Bar had a really good male chef who cared about what came out of the kitchen. I don't know who does the cooking now, maybe the cleaner.

Well, we went to the Z Bar on Saturday 11th May, having just left a house vibe thing which was extremely happy and uplifting. We walked in, security in place, everyone nice and polite and we knew we were safe.

Once inside, the beats were loud, the men and women friendly and between our crowd of 7, we made many friends that night. Everyone was smiling and everyone was dancing, and in the end the hardcore remained. Beautiful people, keeping it real!

Between you and me, there was a lock in to celebrate the engagement of the Z Bar owners! The drinks were flowing, the DJs stayed.

Best night I've had in ages! Left at 6! Recommended!

Myself and two friends met at the Z Bar for a drink and snack. The place was cold and we had to keep our coats on all evening. The cocktails we wanted were not included in their happy hour and one of the cocktails couldn't be made due to lack of ingredients.

The table service was prompt. The food came fast, but I had stale re-fried chips with dry, lukewarm chicken wings. My friend had some fish concoction. The sauce seemed to be made from packet soup with soggy crackers thrown in. He said it was gruesome. I will not be returning to Z Bar.

I must add here that the decor is really nice and so was the music but I've had tastier sandwiches.

Z is nice, very mixed and easy to access. I like the mix of urban men and and uptown men. Last time I went there, I met people that had driven down from the Midlands to check it out. Security is polite and the price is right.

Z Bar is a really nice place to chill or get moving. There is something for everyone.

I go to Z Bar occasionally and after a while it feels like your local. The atmosphere at Z Bar is just right to get you in the mood to start your evening, espeacially on Fridays when it gets jammed. But the lack of air con and hungry guys makes it all a bit too sweaty! Girls - beware.

Probably the best bar in London.
And that is no joke. The ambience, the music, the staff and of course the people synergise to give you an absolutely brilliant night out.

Apparently Z-Bar have started charging about 3 quid to get in on some nights but it is really worth it, if you hanging out with mates and looking for a spot with a special someone Z is the place to be.

Usually packed with young up and coming professionals. The vibe is generally positive.

On my arrival at the Z bar, I was greeted by a heavy, but friendly security team at the door, once we had negotiated our way past the door, I hoped that things would get better. Sadly I was mistaken.

We had pre-booked a Hen Night for 20 people in the seating area, only to find that the current Euro 2004 match was on so there was no music and the restaurant area was being used by all and sundry. So much for exclusive use.

Drinks orders were painfully slow; unfortunately we kept disturbing the staff, who were so busy watching the football that nothing else, well certainly not customers, mattered really!

Eventually, we did get served only to be told by the gentleman serving us, that we could not set up a seperate drinks bill as we were sitting down, even though we had asked for a seperate bill PRIOR to ordering any drinks! Apparently, you need to go to the bar to do this, except no-one told us.

Staff could not handle BASIC matters like taking food orders. One of us asked the waitress if coleslaw was served with the salad. The reply we got was 'What's coleslaw?'.

The food, when it arrived was average at best, it seems that the Z Bar's interpretation of Carribean food consists of anything layered in tinned tomatoes and pepper sauce! This was not helped by the fact that the rice arrived some 10 minutes after the meat!

After complaining about the lack of atmosphere, when we could get Rudy the manager away from the football screen, the music suddenly came on - apparently the DJ booked failed to show up! And that just about sums up this place really, non attentive and blasé staff, extremely average food and average music with no atmophere.

The Z Bar represents ZERO value, the food is cheap but you gets what you pays for. My advice... find yourself a nice bar in Brixton... there are plenty, but the Z Bar scores a massive ZERO for me !!!!
