My husband and myself visited this restaurant on a saturday evening. We asked if it would be ok to sit downstairs and was somewhat grunted at by a rather surly man, that we could.
The lady serving customers downstairs was lovely (the complete opposite). She must have heard what we were thinking of choosing to eat, and came over several times to explain that those items were not on the menu as they had run out.
Our starters (ones that were actually left on the menu) were small and not particularly tasty. Not very authentic.
For mains, my husband chose the lamb tagine, and for me, the mixed grill. Both dishes were so small (considering the price), they would barely have constituted a starter!! The lamb tagine consisted of mostly bone, and very little meat.
One drink each, and a bill of just over £50.00 !!
Can definitely say that we won't be going back, and i wouldn't recommend that anyone else does either.
i had a fantastic time here. i go out very often so i know good restaurants. this is a very good restaurant with friendly attentive staff and excellent food. there isn't much i can fault about this place. its great for parties and groups but also intimate enough for that romantic evening out.
I went to Zaytouna to enjoy a nice meal with a big group of friends. The first course was pitifully small consisting of two portions of pitta, humous and a selection of falafels and other pastries. There wasn't enough to even have one each, let alone sample the different items.
The next course was two small pieces of chicken between eight hungry people! I was lucky to grab one and feel guilty. We were also given a few plates of cous cous with which what I was informed was fish, but was in fact aubergine. After that we had a large plate of rice, with a few pieces of kebab meat on the top, which was again, not enough for everybody to have a piece. The bill was then £30.00 per head, instead of the £22 per head we'd been lead to believe, and that was without any drinks. Needless to say I won't be recommending Zaytouna to anyone.
The Zaytouna is a great restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere and incredible service. I'm definitely going back to Zaytouna.
Zaytouna is delightful. Very exotic in feel and very elaborately decorated. I felt like a princess there. The staff at Zaytouna were extremely polite and very attentive. I will most certainly go back.
Zaytouna is a great restaurant. The Moroccan cuisine is so tasty. I loved the belly dancers and the whole atmosphere. Would recommend it for birthday parties and the like. Zaytouna is well worth a visit.
