I've been going to Zigfrid for years. This is now a classic bar as it keeps changing. I don't know who does this but it's never the same. Each time I go back there's something new. I spoke to the barman who said that they were going for a live music license in the basement underground bar.
This is a night out in Peckham not Shoreditch and I like it for that. Perfect if you've already had a couple of drinks beforehand, although prices should be more in line with clientele.
The Zigfrid bar is okay, the food is okay, but the staff attitude and service is slow and they don't care about you waiting if someone else turns up at the bar. The Zigfrid staff also think they are starlets.
Me and my friends decided to celebrate the beginning of a new term with a pub crawl in Brick Lane and Hoxton and ended up spending the whole night in Zigfrid. First we had a dinner in the restaurant area and the portions were big and therefore good value for money.
Afterwards we moved to those comfy sofas and we sipped daiquiris and mojitos in the candlelit atmosphere. The only annoying thing was the music that was too loud for serious conversation later on, but by that time we were all pretty tipsy and dropped the talk and danced until the DJ finished. We'll go back to Zigfrid for sure!
I went to Zigfrid for lunch with work. We booked a reservation with a deposit to then find out that they hadn't reserved a table for the day and time requested but they were just holding our card details for god knows what reason. Eventually we managed to sit down to see that the majority of the glasses were covered in lipstick, and had obviously not been washed at all.
On top of everything else, my clam chowder and the bread served with it were both past their best, in my opinion. Do yourself a favour, don't ever go to Zigfrid!
Annoyed. Waited forever to get in to Zigfrid. Arrogant staff. Never again! So many bars around, why can no-one focus a bit on service? And, they let everyone in, surely Zigfrid must have some sort of maximum capacity thing there.
I had a good time at Zigfrid and I always do. Relax by day and party by night. Watching the World Cup here has been great, so i'll be at Zigfrid to see if England go all the way.
Zigfrid must be the bar from hell, you have to wait for hours for a drink and then the bar staff look like that they don't get paid enough to care.
Zigfrid was a good bar once but now whoever runs it, get another job and fast. And tell the girls behind the bar to smile, you're paid to look happy.
As far as I can see Zigfrid is an obnoxious bar with the ability to be almost acceptable. I can do Zigfrid on a Sunday with a hangover to take the piss out of pretentious uber trendy Hoxton hair cuts and all bar a few bar staff think they run the place except a cracking gay guy who was on top form and some dreaded up girl who made me amazing cocktails. Good luck trying not to fall up your own arse.
WOW! I heard about a new night at the club below Zigfrid, Underbelly, called RANDOM where house, breaks and electro meet couture, as they put it and it was not disappointing, it was the best night out in ages!
I urge all you girlies out there to get down to any future RANDOM events at Zigfrid and enjoy a night without pretension that is all about the music and having fun!
Zigfrid's is a rocking place to be, both day and night, the food is great and I would like to see more bars like Zigfrid's, but if you are not a lover, then go to a pub with warm beer and two old drunks holding up the bar so it makes room in Zigfrid's for my friends.
Do you wear sunglasses indoors? Do you wear a massive scarf and hat in the summer? Are you so trendy, you've become a complete fool? Do you like barstaff who's entire point of being there is, to like, not be there...yeah? Do you like people who end sentences with yeah, yeah? Then please for the love of god go to Zigfrid. Going to Zigfrid is like the Haj but for idiots.
My god, 20 mins plus to get a drink at Zigfrid. I've had more fun waiting in line at a tube station. In an area with so many places to drink Zigfrid is by far the slowest and over rated.
I also was absolutely gobsmacked by Zigfrid. It's great, the staff are great, the DJs are fantastic and the clientele are sweet. I had to do a google search to find out how this Nathan Barley character rubbed so many of you up the wrong way and would like to add that your all out of line! I'm pleased you didn't like Zigfrid - more skirt for me taxdodgers!
Glancing at your website, I was pleased to see that it's not only my friends and I who think Zigfrid's epitomises everything that's wrong inside the Shoreditch triangle today. As long as there are out of towner's, posers, fashion student wannabes in their mother's clothes and the odd loser, Zigfrid will stay in business and ruin it for everyone else. Stay away, come to Brick Lane instead...
Only visit Zigfrid if you are trying to prove a point of how the quality of bars vary so very much in this area. I have been to this bar a few times and although I can not put my finger on what exactly makes me hate the place something about it just makes me always leave after one drink. Do yourself a favour and give Zigfrid a miss.
I was absolutely gobsmacked by Zigfrid. It truly is a mecca for Nathan Barley/Shoreditch Twat wannabes. So go for a drink if you're a masochist eg if you don't mind twats pushing in front of you at the bar and then waiting 10 minutes whilst the bar girl gets around to serving you. I regret wasting 20 minutes of my life in the presence of these people in Zigfrid.
Zigfrid is the worst bar in London in my opinion. There is never any loo roll in the toilets, you will be standing at the bar for 20 minutes or more to get an overpriced drink and even then there is nowhere to sit. Horrible bar - up itself and on the way out.
I have to comment on Zigfrid as a Londoner who goes to bars each week, a member of private clubs and someone who goes to pubs to play pool and drink pints, I can honestly say that this is one of the crappiest bars in London. Think Nathan Barley but worse, up its own arse, all fur coat and no knickers. If you're a woman at the bar on a Thursday onwards, forget it, you will be ignored as I was for 20 mins. Short staffed, with only 3 bar people for a crowd 3 people thick at the bar. I was ignored by overworked young women who think men come first. Forget it. I can honestly say the bar is the worst I've been to in London. Full of out-of-towners. One plastic Hoxton bar that has had its day.
As cosy and intimate as a living room, complete with couch side lamps and shades. The music is unpretentious yet modern, with the occasional and welcome mix of classic popular music and cool older classics such as Hendrix and the Doors. A great looking crowd and plenty of space for al fresco action outside, the food looked great and drinks were good value, we stayed all night and loved it.
