The ViewLondon Review
The venue may be basic, but the food is anything but.The VenueGood things come in small packages. While Numara 19 Bos Cirrik isn’t going to win any awards for its location or interior, it’s not an unwelcoming place. Stip lighting perhaps detracts from the charm, but the venue is cosy and clean.
The AtmosphereThe size dictates that this restaurant would feel full, even if it wasn’t constantly populated with enthusiastic diners. Staff are affable and a family-friendly, and a laid back Mediterranean vibe permeates throughout.
The FoodWith the majority of dishes cooked on the Turkish ocakbasi grill, which stretches along the back wall, perfuming the air with the heady scent of barbequed meat, this isn’t a place for vegetarians or the faint hearted. Exercise caution when ordering as portions are huge and each order comes with a trio of free side dishes: a mixed salad, finely chopped chilli onions and grilled onion quarters in a tangy, yet earthy pomegranate and turnip sauce.
Delicious starters include Turkish and Greek stables, bulgar wheat salad, hummus and falafel for example, and lahmacun – a delicious Turkish take on pizza, with spiced minced lamb spread thinly over flatbread. Main courses are heaven for the meateaters. A mixed grill produces a wide selection of the menu’s greats: quail, minced lamb, liver and chops, all tender and well-seasoned.
The DrinkThis restaurant is unlicensed, but the corkage fee is just a few pounds and glasses are provided. If you’re not in the mood for alcohol there are a variety of soft drinks on offer.
The Last WordNumara 19 Bos Cirrik is a London legend that serves incredible food at an incredible value.
