Very rude service. Extremely stroppy service from the barmaid on Saturday afternoon has meant that this is no longer one of my preferred bars. The bar was not busy, but our order for two drinks was met with rudeness and aggression. We were sober and polite. Bar staff should be too.

Do demarcation rules proscribe the goldfish working here from taking work off competent bar staff elsewhere?

This is a very hard place to describe. It is tiny but they still manage to pack in a half Turkish/harem style vestibule and a half neoclassical bar area. Bizarre. The clientele are equally hard to describe but tend to be coolish types and a selection of all ages.

The cocktails can only be described as dubiously inauthentic. My Classic champagne cocktail contained both brandy and grand marnier - but it was pleasantly strong so no grumbles about that. The food is basically finger food and you get lots of it but there is really not a lot going on here except for quiet drinking - not that I am a particular fan of rowdy places but unfortunately 25 Canonbury Lane lacks ambience.

I don't think it will ever be anyone's favourite bar but it's decent enough I suppose.
