I have been coming here for years and keep coming back, even though I moved from Stoke Newington to southwest London.this is authentic, tasty and delicious south Indian cooking - everything is fresh and the dishes all have a distinct and different flavour. None of that one sauce fits all meats approach. Also it is excellent value for money for food and drink (an affordable and drinkable wine list).

South Indian cooking is especially famous for its seafood, so don't hold back! My favourite is warming and rich crab njandu curry - please dispense with cutlery and get in there with your fingers!!

Also the lamb ulathiya (spelling?) which is peppery and tender. The chapatis are light, the veg is fresh, the chicken vada is out of this world.

Don't come here for a typical "indian" meal - come here and ask your waiters to recommend a variety of dishes to give you a true flavour of south India. It is well worth the trip.

Abi Ruchi has been in Stoke Newington church street for 10 years, yet I had never tried it before. On first impressions, the restaurant looked modern and comfortable and tidy to a high standard. The toilet was very tidy and nice. The menu is very varied, and offers a huge range of Southern Indian dishes and biriyanies. Although we go to a lot of Indian restaurants, being fairly new to this Southern cuisine, we chose from seafood dishes, as this is what we know Southern Indian cuisine are renowned for. The restaurant was full, which was a good sign, but unfortunately, this meant a very long wait for our food (about 15 mins for our starters, and another half hour for our mains) so this let the service little bit down but its all right after tasting the food. Really like Abi Ruchi - the food's delicious! South Indian fare, with a focus on seafood that's amazingly fresh.

Will definitely be going back to Abi Ruchi soon.
