After my friend really wanted to try this place we were horrified at our experience. The menu was very limited and very expensive. My friend wanted to leave however i said give it a go and we will ask a waiter to explain the menu to us as we did not understand what the dishes were. After one unsucessful attempt we decided to order a starter only then leave. Another waiter then asked us to tell him our concerns and he woul explain the menu. After he did this and talked us into staying we were then told by the very unprofessinal so called female manager that we must leave as we obviously do not wish to be here!!!
Because we dare to question the menu as it was very costly and the menu was not well explained. Have you ever heard of it asked to leave once you have ordered because you obvously do not wish to be here. I would not recommend it to anyone and to be honest i can't even comment on the food. Maybe that was the problem they were not confident their food and service had anything to offer so best leave before you complain!!! They did us a favour has we had te best meal at a little restaurant down the road for less than half the price!!

The most disappointing restaurant I have been to all year. Arrving at 8.30pm on Saturday night, a number of dishes were off the menu, the menu itself was a price point above the example mneu on the web. Then the problems started ... when the mains turned up "Sag Paneer" was just spinach and potatoes. The waitress agreed it should have cheese (paneer) , and went to the kitchen and was sent back to say "the potatoes were an extra" - no mention of the missing key ingredient - they wanted £16 for that, ridiculous. Service was slow all night, other side dishes were forgotten but not mentioned until prompted and the manager listened but did not really enagage or respond. We eventually agreed a heavily discounted bill, but it was like pulling teeth.
It feels like they are making big bucks out of their concept and don't really care about the quality (or reputation). I would not go again and have recommended to others not to bother.
It's also really very expensive for what you get. West End prices in King's Cross for King's Cross service.
As an aside, the toilets (by 2030 on Saturday) are like a nasty NHS health centre with paper towel debris oveflowing the bins and the floors wet.

Very rude, poor food and very pricey! Maybe it was a bad night there but we were so looking forward to the Acorn, we'd heard good reports. The celaric soup was more like mash, very odd. And it tasted of...nothing more than mashed celaric.
My main was the curry with roti. The curry tasted of pre mixed spices, very poor and the roti was dry and tasteless. What's the point of making curry in a place like London if you can't make it authentic? At £16 I was more than a little disappointed.
My wife had the risotto, she is a risotto fiend. Without exaggeration she was unable to eat it due to the salt content. We called over the Maître'd who agreed on this but then came back to say the chef would be unable to cook another as she probably wouldn't like it and he couldn't prepare it any other way! A strange response to say the least, as my wife is vegetarian and the only other vege dish on the menu was the lack luster curry, she went without a main course.
On leaving the Maître'd had one last go at us, appologising that things had not gone well before adding that we had really upset the chef! Were we now expected to apologise for sending back a salty risotto I wondered? The bill came close to £100 for 2 gin and tonics, 2 starters, 1 main course and a bottle of wine. Not the experience you expect at these sort of prices!

I went here on a Monday night to meet a friend travelling from Kings Cross. There is not much choice in this area! Acorn House Restauarant though is a real gem and deserves to do really well. The staff were excellent, patient and friendly. The food was superb, with excellent ingredients, well cooked and well presented. The atmosphere at Acorn House was buzzy but not overly so.

It was not obvious that this was an eco restaurant. Acorn House restaurant could make an effort to have recycled furniture and eco-fittings such as energy saving lightbulbs.

One hour prior to our sitting we were asked to come 30 minutes later than our initial booking as they were busy and were then kept waiting a further 20 minutes at the bar. The staff were warm and professional, but we waited a further half hour between our starter and mains which was terribly disappointing.

The food was luke warm, tasteless and had ingredients missing. The staff apologised but only took the coffees off the bill. I hope I can go to Acorn House again for a second chance, as maybe they were just badly organised on a busy Saturday night?

I've heard about Acorn House through a friend and it sound like it is gonna be great. I wish more people displayed ecological awareness like the owners of Acorn House do.
