Addis is a great option if you like Ethiopian food. Simple but very tasty menu, it offers all the classic staples of Ethiopian kitchen.

My favourite is the superspicy DoroWat (chicken drum in a spicy sauce with hardboiled egg) served on injera, but there are plenty of other options.

Service can be slow at busy times, but always very nice

Addis is one of my favourite restaurants in London. Some nights it can get quite busy, but the food is excellent and the waitresses and waiter are very friendly and always willing to help novice. I've eaten a lot of ethiopian food and this place is great for those who love it and those who want to try it!

The food at Addis in general has very good flavour. The downside is that the portions are way too small, particularly for the dishes such as Dora Wot and the vegetable menus. There is one egg (which seems to be standard) but only one little piece of chicken in Dora Wot. Having lived in Ethiopia myself and cooked Dora Wot myself, this is definitely a rip-off in my opinion.

Also, the Injera (the Ethiopian bread) is a bit too thick, nearly twice the thickness the usual injera you would get in Ethiopia or many Ethio restaurants abroad.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s near King’s Cross, or the owners are night owls, but the last time I visited, Addis was open till midnight every night. Perfect for a post pub, late night feast, you can line your stomach with falafel and lamb before stumbling off home. The only problem is the hordes of diners come the weekend – many of them tourists. Visit Addis mid-week for more breathing room.
