I know the casbah for more than 10 years, I love it here i always eat couscous and the service has been good lately. The owner is back to work in his Hampstead fief, i enjoyed the belly dancer and the french waitress add a plus to my dinning experience. Thank you Laura.

We went in at about 7 on Sunday night after a walk on the heath. We said that we just wanted to order a small snack and they sat us at a table.

We ordered about £10 worth of food and some tap water. The waiter went away and then the manager came to our table and started shouting at us that he was making a loss and that we had to order drinks becuase he was paying £1000 in rent. (This was completely unprovoked.)

He was not busy - there were only two other tables occupied. Obviously we left and won't be returning. If anyone is owed money by this place, I suggest you collect it quickly.

the food is relatively good, but the service is not great. and the prices are ridiculously high. i went for a friends birthday..we had a table of about 12 of us. they put us upstairs next to the other other table. we were then constantly told to 'shhhhhh' by the manager- we were not being loud or rude, but were we meant to sit in silence. considering how much the bill was-we could have been sat downstairs away from anyone else..
not really worth it.

Worst service ever. After being offered a table we waited at least 10 minutes for service, but had to go ourselves to find a menu as they didn't come.

When we finally called the waitress to take the order, she took it, only to come back a few minutes later with pen and paper to take it again as she did not remember a thing. After taking the order she came back to say there was no side order of rice, so we order fries. The rice showed up anyway, as a starter!

Drinks were served only after remembering twice, and they came after the starter (that we wanted as a side dish). We ordered hummus and bread as a starter which never showed up at the table but was happily added to the bill.

When main dishes finally came (Tagine) we said we'd like some other side - rice, fries or anything. It never came either!

At the end, the manager got angry for us pointing out the mistakes in the bill. A group who sat at the next table waited 15 minutes to be served. No one showed up to welcome them and they wisely left.

We pointed out the very poor service only to be told that that's "how we do things". The manager did not want to take credit card, we had to go to a nearby bank machine.

In summary, the worst experience we've had in a restaurant ever. And we've travelled to many strange places with poor standards but this was beyond comprehension.

Al Casbah has lousy food and worse service.
This is an ideal venue if you fancy being a terrible night out!

Al Casbah does great food but the prices here are very high. I found the staff a little pushy too. The atmosphere could easily be more relaxed as the staff could be less standoffish. I did enjoy my meal at Al Casbah but I'm not sure if I will be back.

Al Casbah is quite a cheap place to get take aways and the food's usually pretty good. You never have to wait too long either.

You could do a lot worse than Al Casbah.
