When i was looking for an Italian in brick lane, the same restaurant kept cropping up "Al Volo" and now i know why. I couldn't fault anything with this place.
Situated in the corner of Ely's yard in the old Truman Brewery, it allows you to escape from the hustle and bustle of brick lane with an authentic yet simple Italian menu. The service and food is excellent and when you realise how little you end up paying for such a great meal you feel yourself wanting to leave a handsome tip!
Al Volo has a modern feel and the restaurant has warm and "Nice " atmosphere.
Whether your looking for somewhere to start or end your night , or are looking for some where to go with friends or loved ones, i would recommend trying here.

I went there with some friends a couple of weeks ago and we all really enjoyed it. It's one of these no-fuss places with tasty food, decent wine and great atmosphere. The cost of a meal per person including starters and wine was about £25. For sure will be going back there in the future.

I visited Al Volo two days ago on my way back from the Brick Lane Market. I usually buy food from the stalls in the square but this time decided to treat myself with a proper meal (the awful weather might have had something to do with it too).
I found the modern interior quite pleasant - clean and clear but at the same time warm and cosy.
The restaurant serves modern Italian food. They have great choice of antipasti – I went for baked aubergine with tomato sauce, mozzarella parmesan and basil. It was simple but very tasty – you can really tell that they didn’t just warm it up in the microwave... Al Volo serves as well fresh pasta. I ordered pasta with mushrooms, speck, cream and peas – and must say that it was delicious. However, if you’re not a pasta fan – they have as well some lighter dishes such as marinated prawns or grilled tuna steak. By the way - I noticed that they serve wine too.
Finally - the service was fairly quick and the waitress was quite knowledgeable about the food. I will definitely go back to Al Volo and would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys great quality Italian food.

Had a great meal at Al Volo - and will definitely be going back as there was a lot more on the menu that I wanted to try.

Another plus was that our waiter was v. hot!

The food was fantastically fresh and tasty. Great décor and faultless service -I’d defiantly go back again.

Ideal place for an informal meal with friends as there are loads of bars close by to make a real evening of it.

Al Volo is the smallest Italian you'll find in the City. It does really good food really well. There's no pretentions here, just good quality cooking. I love the attitude at Al Volo.
