As a Lebanese , I can hand on heart say this is the best Lebanese in London. The mezze is absolutely amazing! Al-waha manages to even make hummous exciting - their version is smooth and rich with tahini. Try the cheese sambusak, fried kibbeh balls, and arayes (minced lamb on flat bread). Every single plate you'll have will be a treat in its own right. We are regulars at Al-waha and already look forward to our next visit there!
We went to Al Waha this weekend and we can't possibly understand what all the fuss is about. Our meal was fine without a plus, but it is pricey for what it was on offer. Our Kibbeh was good, not exceptional but good. Hummous, moutabel and falafel really tasty. The deserts were nice. The service was not OK, we ordered wine that they forgot and we had to wait around 15 minutes for our wine to come, with our food going cold and the restaurant was really empty (2 tables to serve only). The manager was not particularly welcoming either.
We could have gone to Edgware Road, have the same quality and paid half the price.
We will not come back I'm afraid.
I have dined in Lebanese restaurants on three continents and Al Waha is far and away the best. Not only are the ingredients fresh, but the cooking subtly draws out out the traditional flavors. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world.
Casual, elegant restaurant, with top-of-the-line Lebanese, Arabic and Middle Eastern food. Very famous for their silky, light-as-air hummous / hummus (however one spells it!) - I've met people who come from around the Middle East just to taste it! The service is attentive but not hovering or overbearing, and the food is always impeccable -- freshly made, right off the grill, or out of the oven, or just mixed salads, and fresh Arabic pita bread made right on the premises. Whenever I go there, it's always quite easy to find things everyone will like -- and I've taken a picky young child, and friends who are vegetarian, vegan and even a friend who must eat gluten-free. From the chilled plate of fresh cucumbers, carrots and radishes they put on the table when you sit down, to a fresh plate of watermelon at the end, everything is appetizing, fresh, and wonderful. You feel like you've been invited to the living room of a Lebanese friend who happens to be an incredible chef! I have tried other Lebanese restaurants in London, but they disappoint, and I keep coming back to Al Waha.
Al Waha is still the top in my book! Food has never disappointed: fresh, tasty, exotic, varied and so many vegetarian choices! The Lebanese wines are also lovely and there is plenty of choice there too. I never get tired of this lovely, intimate and friendly place.
Good for groups and fussy eaters, you can pick a selection of dishes to share at Al Waha – although I managed to get a fair amount of dip on the pristine white tablecloth. Still, the staff were nice and all the food was great to nibble on. I left Al Waha stuffed and happy, though a tad guilty about messing up their tableware.
Fabulous dinner at Al Waha on Saturday (14 08 04) night. Food was AMAZING and staff very friendly. Great for an 'alternative cuisine' dinner and no need for high maintenance reservations. You'll leave stuffed but happy and the fresh fruit, pastry and mint tea for dessert is lovely.
