Absolutely awful. The service was very aggressive. We were 'told' what to eat rather than asked with some very forceful up-selling.Waiters were leaning over my guests and were very unfriendly. We were barked at and they were screaming amongst themselves. One of my guests asked a waiter to recomment a mild curry, what she received was so hot she could not eat it. About two staff members came over then to argue with her about it.The food was very average. Why this place comes so highly recommended is shocking to me. I will never return, there are so many other curry houses to choose from on Brick Lane, don't go to this one.
Went to Aladin on Tuesday with my partner as we live in the area so thought we would give it a try.On arriving the restaurant was pretty much empty, with 3/4 tables, so I was a little concerned but the friendly staff made us feel very welcome and people soon started arriving. The decor is very traditional, with so much red (my fav colour) lol.The food was amazing!!! I have eaten in all the local Indian restaurants and the food here is so much fresher and much more flavoursome and beautifully presented.Highly recommended.
Despite having a reservation, we were told that we would have to wait outside in the rain and cold for 20 minutes or so. The place may be well rated by others but with service like that, I wasn't going to stay to find out. Reservation: EJ63EM75
Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in the east.
Foods superb. BYOB. Service neat. London has loads of Indian food places, but very very few serve food of this quality.
Perfect for a date or a break from regular humdrum during the early afternoon. Can get very busy in the evenings. It is a gem of a restaurant.
I couldn't resist popping into this restaurant again. Superb Indian food cooked to your specifications. The staff do their utmost to help you choose your food and do not pressurise you to be quick. Their dishes are cooked to the highest standards and some of their specials are to die for! Would definitely recommend.
What a top notch restaurant! Food is great value for money and staff are polite and make sure that your stay is incredibly welcoming. The food is excellent...my only criticism was that the portions are too big! One of my favs. Highly recommended!
We visited this restaurant on a Friday evening with a group of 6 friends. We decided on this restaurant after reading good reviews, however, I must say I will not be recommending or returning.
If you are bringing your own drink to this restaurant buy it before you get there. The local off license is very expensive and you only get the discount on wine or beer, not spirits. Wines are about £3 more than you would pay in a supermarket so even with the discount you are still paying over the odds.
As soon as we sat down we were asked what we wanted for a starter, we explained we were not ready only to be asked a few minutes later. It felt like they were trying to rush us and the waiters were very abrupt.
The food was o.k, I've had a lot better for a lot less. If you are looking for a very good curry I wouldn't bother coming here.
When we received the bill it was not itemised and on calculation we realised we were over charged by £20 which we argued about and got taken off our bill. We also realised we were charged £9 for popadoms, whilst not exensive I've never been charged for these in any Indian restaurant I've been to in the past.
When we had settled our bill we still had full glasses of drink to finish. We were asked 3 times in less than 3 minutes to drink our drinks and leave. It basically felt like they had our money now please leave so the next lot can come in. It really felt like we were being pestered and was not an enjoyable experience.
I would not go back here, the service was bad, the food was not great and but it is reasonably price,
With so many conflicting Brick Lane curry house reviews there was no clear stand out after reading loads. We chose Aladin on a recommendation: we booked for 20, & on arrival they personally escorted us to their mates off license to get 20% off beer & wine. Then the waiter suggested the usual poppadoms/chutneys & a selection of starters to share, for mains we got rice/naan & only then had to choose 1 main course. too easy! The starters were generous, meaty & fresh & the 5 best startes on the menu. We got our starters, & with menus all over the table still had not ordered our mains (a little unorganised but its brick lane). The waiter finally took our main order, chose the amount of rice & naan & again food was tasty, generous portions & served at once with only 1 or 2 dishes being a let down. Staff were genuinely friendly, the bill was a nice surprise being under £20/person but watch the amount of rice/naan as its always too way too much, & as most curry house reviews state they will usually forget to add their 20% discount to the bill so politely remind them at the end. Easily a great night & right in the middle of brick lane.
Brick Lane is the most popular place in East London for curries. Every step taken down the Street is littered with PR types begging you to come in and taste their wares; offering 'discount’ off the menu (the menu already shows the price with the discount, so not particularly exclusive!) but this isn’t to say that their food is any good. (although some is)
Aladins. What a diamond in the rough. You’d be forgiven for thinking it was crap, mainly because it looks crap. But once you step inside and are greeted by the warm, friendly staff and the fragrances reach your nose all will become clear.
The decor and lighting have a lot to be desired, but the food is divine. Tender meat, beautiful spices and perfectly sized portions. Fresh Naan and lovely rice are great accompaniments as well as the extra tasty lime pickle (to be taken with poppadoms, of course!).
Great restaurant
Delicious food of consistently high quality using local produce. friendly and efficient service, relaxed atmosphere in a stylish traditional setting. My favourite curry house.
Food was ok nothing like in Asia though :( but very bad service, actually the worst!Waiters possibly drunk were rather too "informal"brought the food to the table and scattered it everywhere,I don't think anybody ate what they ordered. The bill was really excessive,£20 average each person,we ordered one main, about £8,1 rice £3, and some starter. We brought our own drinks from outside.Def a scam,I realized the next day they robbed us.NOT RECOMMENDABLE!
having read the reviews I was hoping it would be as good as described. the pressure was on as i had told a group of friends we should go there before a burlesque evening.result - very happy. it was great with easy going staff, extremely tasty food, service was fast and very reasonable. byob. great place, recommended. lamb chops starter was exceptional. our friend shaker maker said "it was the best indian he had ever had". recommended - it was busy also ;0) but didn't need to wait.GREAT STUFF!!!
Enjoyed thoroughly once again. You can easily walk past this restaurant as it appears small and not so bright as the others. But the food is great, service is friendly and quick however you dont feel rushed to leave or order more than you need. Portions are great too always struggle to finish unfortunately. Highly recommended.

In a word: awesome. No more any other curry house for me. I went with two friends on Thursday evening; shortly before 8pm, no reservation, seated immediately. The laminate menu is not explained, but the waiter was very helpful and answered all questions with a smile, and really looked after us in a very friendly way all night, without being insincere or over the top.
The food itself was great; fresh and hot, aromatic, better than run of the mill and definitely varied and authentic.
Have already made plans with two different sets of friends to go back.
Although the food was good it did not make up for the terrible service. We were forced to wait outside until our entire table of 14 had arrived. Once finally inside the restaurant we found that our table for 14 had only 12 places. The staff suggested that we just 'squeeze in'. The entire meal felt like the staff were rushing to get us back off the table, once we had finished our mains we were presented with the bill without asking for it. It was one of the most unpleasant dining experiences i have ever had!
Aladin is marvelous! Seriously, if you get the chance I urge you to try this place. The food is exceptional but the staff make it taste even better with their exceptional service. Great stuff
Aladin, I salute you!
Excellent restaurant in East London and the best curry house on the Lane! The food was impeccable (the best pehwari nan I've had by far ;) ) with great customer service, the atmosphere was buzzing as well and the restaurant looks superb with great detailed traditional paintings.

Front of house staff are very busy but efficient; the food is so full of flavours; although having so much choice surely makes life hard for the chefs!! Great Indian restaurant in the busy lane of Brick Lane
Would love to review this restaurant but booked table for 14th Jan online two weeks ago and then they called six hours before the meal to cancel because it was a busy night.
We only booked online because it's offered inion their website and it was easier than calling. Maybe if we hadn't taken up their discount offer for booking online they wouldn't have canceled on us?
Without exaggeration, the most tasteless Indian food I've ever eaten in my life. The unfortunate reality is that Brick Lane houses some of the worst curry houses in London, and this one is horrible.I should have stood up and left when the entrees were served about 60 seconds after they were ordered, fresh from the microwave. Then the butter chicken came out - it tasted like two bots of tandoori chicken (yes two small bits of chicken, these guys are not in this game for return service...) in a plain dahl mix. Horrible. They stacked up the bill to add insult to injury, and I just gave them the cash so we could get out of there and correct our night with a dessert somewhere else.Do not go to this restaurant. It will destroy your evening!!!

Great food. Lovely ambience and amazing service. When they served the salad in the beginning, i realised this is one place which takes serving good food as its priority. The starters, main course were all medium sized portions and not too small or huge. They are just the right amount which had a rich flavour than being cooked in cheap spices. The rice portions seemed a little small to me however the flavour of the curry makes you overlook that bit :-) In case you are a fan of Indian curry this is a MUST TRY place.
We visited the restaurant for the first time during the cold weather of this month, the service is excellent, the interior is quaintly Indian and authentic. We have visited almost weekly since and I am working my way through the freshly cooked menu, certainly not disappointed with anything yet, my husband is addicted to the Biryani! Excellent value and totally unpretentious.

Horrendous service, very disappointed. The customer is not valued here, GO ELSEWHERE plenty of better curry houses in the area.
Having read all the reviews on various sites and wanted to try Aladin on Brick Lane we finally decided to go there on a week day. In and out the restaurant has beautiful traditional decor. The staffs were very welcoming and did explain every dish as most of the dishes were new to us. We could not find any usual names on the menu which was in a way a bit adventures for us.
We were a table of 5 and the young chap who took the orders was very efficient and attentive. There were 5 starters and 8 mains (including the veg sides) and enough rice and breads. The atmosphere was amazing/buzzing.
When the food arrived we were all really impressed. The food was light, fabulous and was made up with fresh ingredients (could tell from the taste). You could get the different flavours at times.
This has turned to be my all time Indian restaurant from now on. Never disappoints. Above all not over priced at all. Highly recommended!
went there last night as a couple for our first brick lane curry experienced and it was all that we'd hoped for. don't read too much into pathetic reviews on this site from tight people who expect 5 star dining for 10 quid.. Rally good curry and really good prices, We had a two delicious courses and a six pack of lager between us for about £25 all up.. Was really busy so book in advance. Tad loud music but this adds to the atmosohere. Excellent restaurant..
This has to be THE WORST restaurant I've ever experienced. The food is below average and the service is worse. We were handed the bill half way through main course and asked to leave as 'management wants to put new people on our table'. I can't imagine prince Charles being thrown out with a mouthful of bland curry... At least they could have told us about the 90 minute turnaround when booking and when arriving. It was a relief to get away from the screaming drunk clients. I just hope the food poisoning passes soon
I went there yesterday and had a lovely evening with friends and delicious indian food. I really liked the combination of authentic indian food and traditional dining space and enjoyed that you are able to taste the fresh food without having the smell of incense sticks. A really different experience compared to other indian restaurants on the Lane! The staff were very friendly and attentive and recommended us some good specialities. I`m definitely coming back!

Aladin is one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. It's traditional and welcoming and the staff are attentive but don't hover over you.
The food itself is fantastic! Even though its located in the busy lane of curry houses, it has got everything going for it. it always has a constant queue outside so it surely must be doing something right in the busy lane!

Thank you Aladin!

I'm a genuine fan of the Aladins, the place is an amazing treasure trove of delights with efficient service and buzzing atmosphere. Some of the food I've tasted here has been the best in London and this restaurant is surely the best on Brick Lane

Simply fantastic.
Unpretentious atmosphere with good chilled music. Friendly, happy and polite staff, but most importantly, delicious, good selection of food and its a BYOB - all in all a perfect evening - thank you...
Annoyed to have fallen for the now obviously fake reviews and gone to this place. BAD curries: lukewarm, no flavor, terrible. The place was quite full but I doubt anyone will be going back.
Very good Indian food. Lovely setting, attentive friendly service and great menu. Some good deals as well.

Wow - an excellent traditional Indian restaurant tucked away in the busy lane of brick lane. Brick Lane is the most popular place in East London for curries. Every step taken down the Street is littered with PR types begging you to come in and taste their wares; offering ’discount’ off the menu (the menu already shows the price with the discount, so not particularly exclusive!) but this isn’t to say that their food is any good (although some is).
Aladin was the only restaurant with a constant queue outside so must be doing something right.
What a diamond in the rough. You’d be forgiven for thinking it was crap, mainly because it looks small. But once you step inside and are greeted by the warm, friendly staff and the fragrances reach your nose all will become clear. I think the overall feel is very sophisticated without being over the top or fussy.
The decor and lighting have a lot to be desired, but the food is divine. Tender meat, beautiful spices and perfectly sized portions. Fresh Naan and lovely rice are great accompaniments as well as the extra tasty lime pickle (to be taken with poppadoms, of course!).
The a la carte mains range from £6 and onwards so there would be something for all budgets. Alternatively, try a few starters to get the broadest idea of this beautifully light Indian cuisine.
Amazing, buzzzing atmosphere with great food. Get in! And its BYOB.
Aladins is a treasure! Amazing food matched with great service makes us come back for more and more! We tried a beautiful Lamb chop BLAST dish, which was a true blast and so distinctive in taste, it will leave you craving for more! and the chicken tikka koray is one of the best we've had! Looking forward to our next visit, thank you and keep the great work!
Fantastic Restaurant. Great value. We'll definitely be going back. If you like curry and you like fine dining with a buzzing atmosphere you'll love this place. Its BYOB too!!!Richard Hunt
This modern and trendy take of a curry house offers a warm, funky, and vibrant atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. Along with a full menu and extensive specials board for eat in or even takeaway. Will be back...
Me and my fiance went on a Tuesday evening and had a great meal.
The restaurant was almost full.
We often eat at Indian restaurants, but at first glance of the menu there were some dishes we didn’t recognise and some old favourites that weren’t there at all, DON’T LET THIS PUT YOU OFF. When we sat down they asked if we had been before and when we said no, they took time and care in explaining how the foods are traditionally eaten, what went well together, ingredients and (when we asked) even the cooking methods. We followed the recommendations of the waiter and had a great meal with dishes we had never eaten before (the recommendations did not result in us spending lots of money and came to less money than we usually spend at similar restaurants). Strongly recommend!
Fantastic food and excellent service. All of our meals were fantastic and were so full of flavour.
It's not like your average 'british' curry restaurant so we were really happy that the very friendly waiter talked us through the menu and made some suggestions. He was so passionate about the food and you could see why when the plates arrived at the table.
Have been a few times now and always delighted. Also use their take out service from time to time and the quality is just the same as eating in.
