I live in in Willesden and have decided to try another ‘churrasco place’ with Groupon vouchers, so I went there recently with my partner. The place itself is ok. Looks a bit empty in terms of interiors, it still has this local pub atmosphere but overall it’s ok.Food was ok'ish - grilled meat was fine, some buffet dishes were cold and dried out (Sunday afternoon) but salad bar was acceptable. Drinks also good, decent cocktails.However... what has put me off from the doorstep was a waiter, working as a sort of a front of the house. He jumped out on us at the door, saw our vouchers, and said ‘I’m sorry we do not accept Groupon vouchers any more so you have to go next door with this'. The vouchers were valid for two more weeks so I did not see problems with that. I was not sure if I understood him correctly so I asked again if this is the right place then what’s the problem. He’s answer was the same and by ‘next door’ he meant the kebab shop next door. To my big surprise, he was not joking when I asked if he’s sure of what he was saying. He was serious at the time, and he did repeat it three times! I felt a bit annoyed and we were just about to leave when he finally realized we do not get he's sense of humour. What a surprise! He's explanation was he tried to be funny... In what way??? Making funny face and sending us off to a kebab takeaway?! We sat at the table and then nothing happened for couple of minutes. He just left us there without a single word of explanation whether we should help ourselves or wait for anything. Finally we got our complementary drinks served by the waitress, who was very kind and helpful for a change. She was somewhat apologetic and explained to us what we should do, but that did not wipe out our bad impression from the start. But that was not all from this horrid man. In the middle of our meal, the same man came to our table to check up on us. And guess what! He was trying to be funny again!!! This time it was an announcement ' I
We visited Amber Grill last Saturday. On arrival, staff were warm and friendly and gave us a choice of two tables. Our waiter was efficient and informative, and you felt like nothing was too much trouble. Then the meat started to arrive! Everything was cooked beautifully, especially the generous lumps of lamb and beef fillet that came round. The chicken was melt in the mouth and the rib meet succulent and juicy. We had visited the buffet, which was nice, especially the fried bananas, but don't stock up too much on this as the meat is too good to miss! There was a good atmosphere and it filled up pretty quickly after eight. We had vouchers so did not pay the full amount of the final bill, however, even if we'd had to pay the full amount, I still think it would've been good value for money. A fantastically friendly gem!
Went to Amber for a meal this weekend. Really liked the look of the place, cool booths and tiles on the walls, traditional style, very cool inside. Never had Brazilian food before but interested to try...
We bought into the idea of getting a bit of everything with our meal - so some salads, veggies, rice, beans, and a selection of meats of course which are brought round to our table. This was a lot nicer, fresher and better standard than we expected, with lots of choice and different kinds of potatoes, polenta and so on as well as standard rice and beans. Lots of chillis and pickles and some other more spicy chilli oils and condiments around if you are into that kind of thing. They also had a selection of buffet stews, which were out of this world flavour packed and yummy... I am not a big meat eater but really found what they had on offer delicious. This part of the menu was more home style which is what I really liked about it - so much choice within one place.
The meats we had brought round and carved at our table were - sausages, little chicken hearts, chicken pieces, beef, pork, another kind of marinated beef, a different kind of pork and then unlimited repeats of the same. We got crackling from the pork, and you can find a side of the meat you want cut and get a slice taken from there - so if you like it more rare you can fine it that way. Yum !
We shouldn't have, ...... but we did have a cocktail and some Skol beers, and a great dessert which was a kind of coconut and prune creme caramel and utterly fabulous.
Would highly recommend! It's a friendly place also and the staff / owners were super nice and relaxed. Nice and near Willesden Junction overground or bakerloo line ( 3 mins from the station ) for an easy getaway at the end of the night.
We arrived at the restaurant and it took a long time for anyone to notice us and although the man that eventually greeted us was smiley and informative the rest of the staff looked miserable and were few and far between. The salad bar was not only screened off by the toilet but was very bland. The meats that came were tasteless and fatty, so much so that we decided to leave. Unfortunately our visit there was disappointing esp after already having visited Rodizio Rico in notting hill which was delicious. Would we go there again? No.
I'm Brazilian and all I can say is that this is the worst "churrascaria" (Brazilian BBK) I've ever been. The meat was tasty, but reheated and not warm enough. There wasn't as much variety as I expected from a Brazilian rodizio and the buffet was very limited. The "farofa" (toasted cassava flour) was cold and not crusty. The chairs have bad appearance, with loads of stains, looking dirty. However the staff is very friendly. I definitely would not recommend it.
Amazing place. Welcoming staff, nice space well done out and the food is out of this world. I work nearby so really pleased when it opened - we quite often go for the buffet only for lunch - self service so quick and easy and at just under £8 its obviously not for everyday but good value. But the complete experience is just something else, masses of succulent tasty meat carved at your table until you can fit no more in.....
Would definitely reccomend it even though haven't tried the wine list yet - have so far only been there during work, but plan to go there in evening. Area can be rough but is so near Willesden Junction station there is no need to linger. The regular price of £20 for the executive rodizio is not cheap but still good value, and offers are frequent. My only gripe with the place itself is the loos - in a converted pub the ladies remains shabby smells of stale tobacco. But no dirt and I'm not reviewing the loos.
