Please avoid American Bar and Grill! I called the day before to book a table for two as I was using my Tastelondon card. I double checked that it could be used on a Friday and was told this was fine as per the website. I was told by the person who took my call (who later transpired to be the manager) that there were only restrictions when they had an event taking place on the actual day and the cut off was 4pm. I turned up the following day with my friend and went to the bar and informed the bar assistant of our reservation. Unbelievably we were told that due to an event the previous day they had not set up the restaurant and this was at 3pm. We were told that we could eat downstairs in the bar by the bar supervisor which was not what we had booked and not what we wanted esp. As the bar is incredibly dark. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he was not available and was given his mobile number. I stated that I would not call a mobile number and asked for the number of their Head Office. The bar supervisor insisted that she did not know the number and when she went to the back office stated that there were 30 numbers for their Head Office. I asked her to call her manager and was shocked and disgusted when he relayed to her that he had taken my call from the previous day and that he had pointed out that the restaurant would be closed and that we would have to eat in the bar (total fabrication) he also refused to let me have the number for Head Office stating that any complaints would have to be dealt by him and I was informed by the unknowledgeable bar supervisor that as this was the request of her manager she would not help me in acquiring the number. American Bar and Grill is a disgrace and takes away from what is a fantastic venue (the o2) to visit. Regardless of the staff I will google their Head Office number to make my complaint known. I would not recommend American Bar and Grill to anyone.

Went in there with my girlfriend last night before going for a steak at the "haha" restaurant around the corner. Didn't go in the restaurant as it was closed but the bar was nice enough. The only draught lager they could offer us was Stella, which the guy had to go out the back for! None of the taps on the bar were functioning. Maybe this was because there weren't any events on and it was really quiet, but it wasn't a problem, since we were only charged £2 a pint! I thought this must be a mistake on the first round but after 2 more rounds it was still the same! Saw the comment further down about the toilets being disgusting, my girlfriend went in there and her only negative comment was that the lighting made her look funny! Air conditioning was a godsend in this weather. The only bad thing was the sound of vuvuzelas on the tvs as the Spain-portugal game was showing and it sounded like a swarm of angry wasps. Will definitely go back, even if only to see whether they're still only charging £2 for a pint of Stella, if this is a regular thing then I think this will be my new local, even though I live in Bow and my girlfriend lives in Beckton!

I like it! I went her the other night just because me and a few mates where bored and wanted to do something, as this is like the first bar restaurant you see in the o2 we thought why not, and it was great! Not enough tv's, joking! They've got lyk 60! Its amazing. We had a few bits from the menu just to pick at, and although its all that bad stuff (as all american food is) like nachos, chicken dippers in bread crumbs, mozerella sticks etc, its just tooo good to resist! You have to have it and more! The cocktails where amazing, cant really remember how many I had, but enough to make me love American Bar and Grill even more,would recommend to any one!

Really nice ribs! And very accommodating staff they were packed but promised us a table within fifteen minutes don't knowhow they did it but they did we went back after Carmen and had a free cocktail with our tickets so we bought two more and didn't leave till 2am brilliant

Came in before Micheal Buble on Saturday and really enjoyed the atmosphere nice cocktails the food was good but the service was brilliant really nice staff. Will be back to watch sports so many tv screens!

I really enjoyed this restarant! I went this past weekend to watch the NBA finals and not only did they have like 100 tvs to watch but the food was really good. I got the nachos and the burger and they were really good! The staff were really nice. Im going back for the world cup games for sure!!

I went to the American Sports Bar and Grill the other night to watch the nba finals. I had the best meal. There nachos are very good as well as there Burger! I really enjoyed American Bar and Grill not to crowed but a very relaxed atmostphere and so many tv's it was awesome! I cant wait to go watch the world cup games there!

This was the worst place that i have ever eaten at. My main course of mac and cheese came out and after 20 minutes my partners and my daughters meals still were not out. We told the waitress who said she would speak to the manager but 10 minutes later we still hadn't heard anything. My partner decided that he didn't want his meal or my daughters anymore so he just paid for what we had. The waitress didn't argue this at all or offer us anything to compensate. After reading the other reviews I wish that we hadn't paid at all. Toilets are disgusting. DO NOT EAT HERE!

The menu was incredibly limited (esp for vegetarians), prices are pathetically high for tasteful frozen food, our waitress seemed close to incompetent. To top things off, they add 'service charge' to the bill!! Do not recommend. Stick to Nando's!!

This has to be one of the worst meals i have ever had. We took our daughter there before a show and waited 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive. When the "food " eventually turned up it was inedible ( how they could get 2 burgers and 2 fish and chips so wrong is beyond me ) , we would have sent it back but unfortunately none of the waiters appeared to speak English. When we eventually found a waiter who did speak English he said he would get the manager. After waiting a further 10 minutes we asked again and he said he would get the manager ( clearly he had no idea what he was doing or what we were actually asking ). When the manager eventually arrived and we said we weren't paying he didnt bat an eyelid or even ask why. Looking round the so called restaurant it appeard not many people were paying for their meals. This restaurant should be rated at minus 100 or better still closed down.

Utterly dreadful in every sense. Like one of the previous reviews a minus score is only appropriate for this place but one star is the lowest we can give. Poor service, poor quality food and totally overpriced. The menu had several comical errors (Rice Chocolate Cake?, Creme Caramel described as cheesecake??) One of our starters came without the sauce as they had run out and seemed to think it was odd that we thought this was a problem. Whilst still clearly eating our starters the waiter asked us if were ready for our main course. The pitcher of cocktails we ordered tasted of nothing more than coke. The extra fries we ordered came on a saucer and for £2.95 I would have expected slightly more. Toilets were disgraceful. Even the waiter admitted it was terrible and said it was embarrassing. DON'T GO!

I agree that this place should have minus rating.... We went there yesterday to celebrate my husband's birthday and he was so happy he picked a nice restaurant. But how wrong were we....First the table has not been cleared after previous customers, no cutlery, no napkins, mayo spots all over the menu... We have waited about 15min before my husband called a waiter over only to hear that he does not take orders. Finally a waitress turned up and took our order - king shrimp and well done steak... After waiting for ages (in the meantime another couple decided to leave without paying) our food arrived - only to find out it was salmon and shrimp. We have questioned it as it was not what we ordered and they apologised for the mistake and said that it will take a while as the steak was supposed to be well done.... waiting again for too long... Our dishes arrived together - only to find that the steak was rare and shrimp cold and my rice reheated in the microwave. I have spoken with a manageress and she apologised and offered dessert on the house and that she will be back when we are done to take our dessert order. We have seen her taking orders, delivering some and running around but she forgot about us. We have waited about 20min to get her attention and finally I had to get up and walk to her to pay our bill as we weren't going to risk having a dessert there... And after reading the above reviews we were right to do so as the choc cake would have been another disappointment. Never again !!!

I went to this restaurant on Friday 26 September 2008 hoping for some good diningFirst I ordered the ribs which were dry and crunchy. I didn't complain and hoped the dessert would be a better experience. I ordered the "rice chocolate cake" yes the menu said rice. I asked a waitress who consulted with her colleagues who determined that this was a printing error. The chocolate cake had the same pasty texture throughout as if it hadnt baked properly. It was just chocolate past. Worst choc cake I had had ever...and this is my default dessert. I brought this to the chef's and waitress' attention and I was told that this is how it was. You would have thought that a professional establishment would taste a sample from their stock but they didn'tThis place is an unprofessoinal jokeTAWANDA

I would rate this as minus 100. It was my birthday yesterday and my children treated me to a meal. My day was ruined by poor service, i had to go and find someone to serve me. We waited 25 minutes then my childrens meals came up. Was told mine would be 2 minutes. Twenty minutes later i am still waiting. When it did come my children had finished their meals but mine was wrong. Then after waiting another 15 minutes i asked to speak to the manager who also made me wait. She couldn.t understand what i was complaining about and did not apologise. I ended up having to go elsewhere and eat on my own. People were leaving because of the poor service. There was hardly any one in the restaurant where the other place were packed. I intend to tell any one who will listen to avoid this like the plaque as it was appalling service, food horrible and very expernsive. If the owner would like to contact me to apologise for ruining my birthday but i won't hold my breath. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

WOT A JOKE the service in this place was a joke, most of the waiters do not even speak english, let alone know what they are doing.
