Looking like a Laurence Llewelyn Bowen interpretation of the Mos Eisley Cantina, and attracting patrons who wouldn't look out of place in a Star Wars movie, Anexo cuts a unique figure amongst the bars of Farringdon.
On an average Friday night, Anexo is like a gaudy purgatory for failed estate agents having one last sleaze before an eternity of fiery damnation. Cocktails are served thick and fast, with the highly skilled bar staff taking a mere 20 minutes to prepare 4 drinks.
It's not just Screwdrivers and 'dutty wining' though, a delectable variety of 'food' is available from a menu which appears to have been inspired by the waxy photographs of meat in Kebab shop windows.
The quiz machine in the corner offers the patrons a modest chance at self improvement, but alas, Anexo is not a place for aspirations, more a vacuum of sentience.
In all fairness though, if you like venues with good transport links, add an extra star to the above review.
Me and 5 friends Went to Anexo on Friday night for dinner, and the food was great, top class Tapas dishes , I may go to the New Years eve party at Anexo, I went to the Newyears eve party at Anexo two years ago and I had a great night. I recommend! Michelle.
Went to anexo on Friday night for dinner to check it out before we booked it for our Christmas party, started of with a few tapas dishes ,good selection to choose from then had mixed paella , it was all excellent very tasty and good size portions ,can't wait for our Christmas party now ,will be back
Groupon deal allegedly worth £47.50. Bland food, couldn't order from half of the menu. Over cooked meatballs, potatos added to meat dishes so they could scrimp on the meat. Bravas sauce resembelled cheap ketchup. Generally grubby. Cheeky £5.94 service charge added to the bill despite the deal. Best thing about this restaurant nice sinks!!
Well 4 things! The menu was dirty and table was sticky, i told staff about this and just blanked me. The chef appeared from the kitchen to use toilet and didnt wash hands (my friend was in bathroom at same time) Next the food was shocking Meat was like rubber and was cold had to send food away. I wanted to complain to manager about this and was told to shut up we dont need your business!!!! i asked for my bill and extra drinks had appeared on Bill. Would not recommended!!!!
We have been to Anexo the other day and the food was absolutely gorgeous, we started with some olives and a plate of nachos, followed by some delicious Chicken Fajitas accompanied a lovely red Spanish wine, We would definitely go back to Anexo.
a friend recommended anexo for a dinner party and we wasn't disappointed we had the £15 tapas selection to share got loads of tapas dishes through out the evening , was a great selection as some of our friends are vegeterians ,we will defently be back
went to anexo last fri 26 aug with another couple had a great night started with loads of tapas dishes then paella for main ,food was amazing best tapas I've had in London ,staff were very friendly decor was very gaudi style and there was a live band on later so we ended up staying there all night , will be back ,
I will not come back here again! The menus where very sticky it was disgusting and some pages where stuck together.
The food was very boring and bland.
It was supposedly half price for it was a Monday. When we went to pay the waitress said it was full price, we asked is it not half price for there was a sign outside that we saw, which made us come that Mondays was half price, she said it is only on lunch. The sign clearly does not state that!
So to pay full price, it was not worth it!
OMG i would never goto this place again, i see 2 mouses running from the garages next door straight into the bar, i see there kitchen was downstairs put me off my food, also i noticed the beers (pints) were watery.
So awful that we could not even book a table! We finally got through after leaving 4 messages to say they only serve food till 7 and we should call at 6 to book a table. I can see the 'For Rent' signs out the front already!
Had a great lunch here today, tapas were amazing. Highly recommend the Shiraz too, went very well with the chicken and chorizo. Will definately be coming back soon.
If you’re bored of pub companies then the indepentenly owned Anexo is the ideal antidote, offering quality food with a laid back spanish atmosphere.
The staff are extremely friendly and will always go the extra mile, the charm shines through the fixtures and fittings and soon wins you over.
I went for lunch this saturday in Anexo and was very impressed.
I had paella mixta and a impressive chorizo sliced sausages cooked in a red wine sauce all served by a wonderful waiter, very profesional and funny.
Anexo do some super tapas and the best thing is on Monday’s they do a 2-4-1 deal. Both the chorizo and patatas bravas were spot on, and the atmosphere was really fun. I’d definitely recommend Anexo for groups, as the small dishes are great for sharing and they have live sport and DJs for entertainment purposes.
Anexo is a great tapas bar close to Farringdon station. When I went here last month I had a selection of enjoyable dishes and even more enjoyable cocktails. I thought the waitresses were very friendly and helpful which helped an already pleasant evening. Anexo also has a balcony bar where we could enjoy more cocktails before attempting to burn off some of those calories on the dancefloor.
