Had a lovely lazy Sunday afternoon with beers and lunch in here and it was great. Thought it was slightly strange that they only had one roast option, but food was fantastic anyway. Decent real ales and friendly staff meant i left a slightly drunk but happy man.

The food is great at the Anglesea but I'm afraid the service doesn't quite live up to it with our food last night arriving around one hour after we'd ordered it. Whilst good food is very often worth waiting for no apology was offered and in fact offence appeared to be taken when we asked politely when it would arrive. Not good and unfortunately has made us wonder if we want to go back again.

The Anglesea Arms is so much more than a pub. Yes, you can buy beer here, but the food’s the real reason to visit. None of your chicken-in-a-basket here – you can tuck into oysters, roast meats, and spicy sausage. It can be hard to get a table at Anglesea Arms, but it’s worth persevering because the food is a million times better than your mum used to rustle up.

"...the food is a million times better than your mum used to rustle up."

What arrogant presumption!

You are entitled to rubbish your own mother's cooking, but don't presume that everybody had a mother who couldn't cook.

I suspect that that when it comes to traditional British favourites, the Anglesea might be able to learn a thing or two from my mama.

I spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon at the Anglesea Arms. It is the perfect place to sit in front of an open fire as you make your way through the Sunday papers. A relaxing afternoon was followed by an equally enjoyable evening as the bar livened up and the lagers from that afternoon took their toll. I would recommend the Anglesea Arms as a great way to usher you back into your working week.
