The 16th branch in the Apostrophe chain does not fail to impress. You feel as if you’re eating at a trendy, chic cafe in Paris despite being in the middle of busy Central London.

The Venue
This Apostrophe keeps with the theme of the other locations with it’s simple and sleek decor. Dark wood round tables with black leather seats make up the front seating area, whilst towards the back you’ll find more seating and modern hanging light fixtures in black and pink that have an ‘80s feel. There is also an executive meeting area, which is perfect for meetings or gatherings in a laid back setting. Like a little art with your lunch? Apostrophe displays an art installation called Clouds, which is made of various coloured fabric tiles.

The Atmosphere
Though most of the food items are lunch type foods, there is cafe feel to Apostrophe, rather than that of just a sandwich shop. Self service will keep you to your schedule but once you taste the food, you’ll want to slow down and savour your meal. Staff are efficient, well presented and friendly. Whether you are having a working lunch, afternoon tea or early dinner, all of your needs will be met here.

The Food
Choose from gourmet sandwiches, pastries, savouries, tarts, cakes, cookies, muffins, loaves, rolls, salads, soups, stews of the day, porridge, Birchermuesli, yoghurts, and fruit salads. Broccoli and brie soup (£3.45) is a creamy broccoli soup, thickened with pureed potato. Soft brie cheese is blended in to add to the richness and fresh broccoli florettes give texture and depth to the smooth, mouth-watering soup. Served in a generous sized bowl with whole grain roll, this is a hearty meal or snack.

The Biarritz sandwich (£4.10) is made with roasted tomato hummus, roasted aubergines, peppers, courgettes and black olive tapenade on a whole grain baguette. The roasted vegetables are cut thinly and cooked perfectly. Tomato hummus and black olive tapenade are generously spread on the fresh, soft bread and add a savoury flavour to the sandwich. Carcassonne (£3.45) is a fresh whole grain baguette with a hearty helping of hummus, baby leaf spinach, roasted pine nuts, red onion, and cucumber. The mild flavour of the fresh hummus blend well with crunchy red onion and cool cucumber. Spinach leaves and pine nuts make this a very satisfying and healthy sandwich.

Apple strudel (£2.30) is made with fresh apples in a light puffy pastry. The apples are sweet and tart while the pastry is buttery and flaky. Great for dessert, an afternoon snack, or even breakfast.

The Drink
To wash down your healthy meal, why not have some freshly squeezed or farm pressed juice? Choices range from orange to carrot to apple and pear. You can also get hot drinks, such as coffees and teas, and their Italian hot chocolate (£2.55) is a popular option. Soft drinks and sodas are also available.
