Tried 11 different dishes, all of them very good.
Price / quality is awesome.
Ordered these 11 dishes, 12 sushi, sashimi, bottle of sake, 3 beers and the price was still only 28 pp.
Will definitely go back.

My all time favourite Japanese restaurant. The cheapest and the best in town.

I lived in Tokyo for 6 years, speak the language and know the special menu written in Japanese on the walls , specially listed for Japanese salarymen to savour with their sake...an advantage if you bring along someone who knows the language.

Family owned, a basic Nomiya (drinking house Japanese style ) where the chef uses his own creativity and improvise to perfection. A basic restaurant that is hard to get in without reservation.

From the outside it looks dingy and a friend thought it looks like a massage parlour masquerading as restaurant..so never judge a restaurant by its front door..take a peep inside and you will see it is packed..the clientele is eclectic, Japanese, foreigners who speak fluent Japanese, undergrad students, young and trendy, Japanophiles...this place does not need advertisement..word of mouth brings in all the mouths....

Must try their Asakusa House salad , a cacophony of different raw fish , seaweed and a sesame sauce...my staple when I am there.

Agedashi tofu, agedashi nasu (eggplant grilled with a sweet miso base ) , gyunyu tataki (seared slices of beef with a delectable sauce) this dish would cost 5 times more at Zuma or Nobu...they may use a cheaper cut of meat but the end result is great.

Their sushi is well made with the right texture of rice and vinegar..sushi is dependent on the freshness of the fish but also the texture of the rice and how it is cooked and mixed ..

Their Tempura mori awase- chef's platter is light and crispy. My kids would jump at my offer of Asakusa anytime and that is the magic it holds..

My kids are not too happy that I have been spreading the good word and recommending it to too many of my friends , which means it is even more crowded and harder to get in..so why am I doing this ???

ONly because I love Japanese food and I like to share a

Asakusa do good Japanese food and sake. The waitresses were a bit unfriendly, but it was busy and we did ask a lot of annoying questions. Liked Asakusa’s range of sake though.
