When I arrived at Assagi, to inform the waitress, that I hadn't booked she looked really bemused. Stepping inside the restaurant I realized why. The room was really small, not more than six tables. 'We usually have very long waiting lists!', she informed me 'but you are lucky.' And I got a table, next to one of the beautiful high windows. Now I had time to look around. The room was painted in a fantastic kind of red, neither signal red, nor gentle, somewhere in between. The wooden furniture went well with the startling clean parquet floor.
The menu was in Italian. I just pointed to various things! My starter turned out to be a delicious mushroom salad. It was really fantastic, however, it couldn't beat the main course. Tagliatelle with scallops, an explosion of taste! The highlight of the evening, however, was the desert - honey-plum cake, served with custard cream and fresh fruits. It was just heaven!
Together with beverages I paid 40 pounds in the end. Definitely not something to do every night, but if you want to treat yourself - perfect!
