I happened to take guests who were on holiday in the UK to Auberge . What a disappointing experience. The restaurant is dark and dingy looking. The service was slow although the restaurant was not busy and the food was equally disappointing. In fact my guest ordered a chicken dish and someway through the meal she found that there were feathers on the chicken . When we informed the waiter , all we got was a nonchalant shrug of the shoulder and a weak apology ... we still paid for that dish. I will certainly not be going back there again.
Sat. 24th. July. Had booked 2 days earlier and confirmed that we wished to eat in the restaurant.
On arrival found that the restaurant was closed. The downstairs bar was extremely noisy but a relatively quiet corner was found for us.
The serving lady was pleasant and efficient. My moules were very good although the pot handles were dangerously hot! I had the mariniere (which did not, and classically should not, have cream!) . I did tip a half glass of Pinot Griggio in to spark it up some more. My partner had the Camembert which was cold. He also had the duck breast which was very tough and chewy. The French beans were barely cooked. The potato Dauphinoise was unrecognisable and also cold. My pork was overcooked and the mustard sauce wasn't mustard auce at all.
Our first choice of wine (a rose) was not available.
All in all a very disappointing visit. We should have gone to the Union Jack Club, opposite, instead.
We shall not return!
I had a really nice meal at this Auberge restaurant. The Moules were excellent, as was the entrecote grillee.
We went with a party of 8 which the serving team were able to cope with excellently, very fast and polite.
We had a really nice bottle of wine - a fantastic sauvignon blanc.I will be returning in the very near future for my birthday meal.
Auberge was a big disappointment. The service was the worst service I have ever experienced in London. It took two requests and 50 minutes to get the drinks, just over an hour to get the appetizer and nearly two hours to get the main course.
Our assigned waiter was arrogant and slow, eventually a different waiter felt so uncomfortable about the service that he got our drinks. The food at Auberge was less than expected and not worth the price. Stay clear!
Tonight was my first visit to the Auberge and to be honest I am very disappointed. Our entire order of food went wrong. Nothing was right and we waited for one dish for almost 40 minutes, 20 minutes after all the other food was already on the table. The fillet was well done instead of medium as ordered, the seared tuna was well done and as dry as a piece of cardboard, the mussels we ordered were wrong, the salad as well and last but not least they forgot to give back the card they held behind the bar.
However, the last shock we got at Auberge was that the bill was almost 100 quid and there was no interest from the waitresses to compensate any of there mistakes. So frankly the only thing I can say about this place is that it's not what we expected and is lacking in service and quality.
Auberge is a lovely bar and restaurant, had a good time! Very talkative staff.
Auberge is really near where I work, so we come here a lot after work. Can be dangerous if you start drinking on an empty stomach, as the Belgian brews are pretty potent. I’ve eaten here a couple of times but it’s mainly soups, salads and mussels – which aren’t really my cup of tea.
The best thing about Auberge is the location – it’s right below Waterloo East station.
we got robbed here. There were signs everywhere to watch your bags but a woman came to our table with a clipboard to hide the fact she was rifling through our coats. she got £400. The bar staff didn't give a toss.
