If the word on the street was that Aubergine's star had lost a little of it's glimmer, don't believe it. It's back, and brighter than ever.
We dined at Aubergine, and chose the seven course french tasting menu. This was the culinary event of our lives, and cannot imagine surpassing it for many a day.
The courses started with fois gras, followed by scallops, lobster, brill, and then lamb. Two deserts completed the whole experience which lasted 2 hours (including little breaks.)
The wine list at Aubergine is certainly one of the countries most extensive, and while a little on the rich side, there is plenty to suit all tastes and budgets. The service is impeccable without being intrusive. It is not cheap, (£77 pp excl wine) but then again the best never is, and this was worth every last penny.
If I could choose my last meal, I would have it at Aubergine. William Drabble's "star" is about to go plural.
