My friends and I dined there this Sunday afternoon and while the food was ok, the service was absolutely atrocious. The staff are extremely discourteous and rude. They are so keen to get rid of you that they hover around trying to collect your plates even before you have finished eating your food. Then, they try and hurry you out the door because they have another party booked at your table which they did not inform you of at the time of your booking.

My favourite part is the discretionary 12.5% so-called 'service' charge, which I have to pay for crap service. No thank you.

Avoid at all costs.

Three American co-workers and I were not able to make it back to the US for Thanksgiving last month, so we booked a table at nearby Automat for their special Thanksgiving menu. We arrived at 1.15pm as scheduled, and waited 20 minutes to order. (Remember, this is Lunchtime during the week.) By 2.05, our food had not arrived and several of us had 2.30pm appointments back at the office. We inquired, and were told it would be at the table in "3 minutes". At 2.15 we asked again, and the manager said it was taking a long time since it had to be roasted. Imagine that. Having to roast a turkey. What next, they have to boil the water for the coffee? (Don't worry, they didn't have to mash the potatoes, as this Thanksgiving standard was not on their Thanksgiving menu.) I suppose that given the fact that a turkey takes 4 hours to roast, we should have ordered at 9am! We told the manager that we had to leave and he "magnanimously" told us we did not have to pay. Imagine that! Not being required to pay for a product that we did not receive! A total disappointment. Later that day, I wrote an email to Automat, and never received a reply. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHAMBOLIC ESTABLISHMENT. THEY DON'T DESERVE YOUR HONEST HARD EARNED CASH, AS THEY DON'T SEEM INTERESTED IN EARNING IT THE SAME WAY YOU DO.

I booked myself and my girlfriend a table at Automat as part of our anniversary. After experiencing delays on the tube and arriving late, we thought we might have lost our booking, but no, although we arrived late, we were treated like old friends by the staff.



Our waiter in paticular gave us possibly the best service I've ever experienced in a restaurant! The food arrived quickly after we had ordered it and was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was lovely, with the candles and music.



We had a wonderful time and our visit to Automat made our anniversary all the more special. We have already made two more bookings and were looking forward to the next time! I thoroughly recommend Automat as a wonderful place to go to - you really need to go soon!

I have had several fantastic experiences at Automat - for lunch, drinks and dinner. The staff are friendly, attentive and never imposed themselves on us. We arrived late for our reservation, but the manager, a very handsome and approachable chap ensured we enjoyed our evening. There is a lot going on at this site with the restaurant and club downstairs at Automat.

Automat have dreadful, dreadful customer service - we arrived for our reservation on time but the maitre'd said that they had it recorded that our reservation was for forty five minutes earlier than the reservation time.



We had confirmed the reservation earlier that day so were very clear what time we had booked for. We were then told they needed the table back in just over an hour. The maitre'd accepted no responsibilty for this mistake and in effect told us to take the table for the hour or leave it. We left it and I should suspect will not go back. Automat is a real disappointment for such a promising place.

Automat is so reasonable! I heard about this place for ages before I went and I naturally thought if it’s a cool place to be then the price tag cant be cheap, how wrong can I be? Well, in the case of Automat, very wrong, I had a lovely meal, very reasonably priced and some excellent service. C’est magnifique!

Forget launderettes and dusty diners, Automat is where it's at in my opinion.

I love the fact that it's so much more relaxed than many of the upmarket and ridiculously snooty restaurants in the area. Give Automat a spin.
