The ViewLondon Review
Forget retro sausage and mash, Bang is dragging the chunky meat and potato collaboration headfirst into the capital's culinary future. The VenueBang makes you feel as though you've stumbled onto the set of a Eighties' disco movie.
Located behind busy Marble Arch, the L-shaped basement venue has gleaming white walls which reflect the pink lighting.
The AtmosphereShiny light boxes flick from colour to day-glo colour and the excessive leafy plants only accentuate the feeling you are in a villa on a Costa del movie set.
The FoodMix that with the menu and Bang appears more original – or perhaps purely crazy - than an ostrich sausage. For starters, the potato is sweet, rather than your usual English whites. You’ll also be lucky to find a pork sausage amongst the kangaroo, haggis and tuna options, with over 50 specialities on offer in total.
The DrinkIf you like the sound of the food, but the interior sends childhood memory alarm bells ringing, don’t panic. There is a takeaway option available. But that would mean missing out on the drinks. You need an extensive range of cocktails to wash down all that gravy and meat. The Pina Colada, hanging onto the Eighties' Brits abroad theme, is not to be missed, while Purple Rain and Bang Bang are equally in your face.
The Last WordBang is all a bit of a culinary headfuck but it's so outrageous, they may just get away with it.
