The Barnes Grill has a super atmosphere, enhanced by the pleasant staff. The food was superb, with teak tartare to die for, fish cakes, suckling pig and steaks all tremendous. The Barnes Grill is a truly British restaurant.

I thought that Barnes Grill was shocking. We had bad and surly service, a greasy squid starter followed by two average steaks (which were much better down the road at The Bridge) and a burger which was raw to the point of cold in the middle and containing last chunks of gristle.

All that and it was massively over priced. Steer clear until AWT stops poncing about on the telly, heads down to Barnes Grill and teaches his staff how to cook.

I went to Barnes Grill for lunch with a friend. It was rather too empty for my liking and there was a very cool welcome on arrival too. The two course lunch menu was a joke.

There was hardly anything on it, and nothing that would fill you up. Food from the main menu was ok but we were overcharged on the bill and had to get it changed, and were then given an out of date postcard voucher to claim a free glass of wine next time we go to Barnes Grill. There won't be one.

Barnes Grill was a very disappointing experience. The party of six that I was in did not make it past the front desk. Further to a very cool greeting we were then offered no apology or solution when it was discovered that our reservation (which had previously been changed and confirmed by telephone) was not available.

What had been organised as a surprise birthday dinner at Barnes Grill was dampened by this opening to the evening and we decided to take our custom elsewhere. On a small presentation note, one could not help but notice the glass cabinet behind the front desk displaying Worrall Thompson's latest book was more reminiscent of being in book shop rather than a high profile restaurant.

I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this Anthony Worrell Thompson meat fest, but as they do fish as well all was okay. My husband likes his red meat so he was in seventh heaven. Both my parents also had a good time, and my dad assures me that the wine list is very comprehensive. So that's good. All in all, Barnes Grill is top notch.
