I would have given 0 stars to Base Bistro but I wasn't allowed by the system. These people tried to poison me and then made me pay for my meal, no apologies and rudeness because it was MY FAULT for not telling them I had a food allergy, in the end I worked out one or more of the ingredients was OFF.
I had the nicoise salad, the egg was runny in the middle (salmonella anyone?) and the anchovies smelt and tasted a bit weird.
My face went red and hot and I started sweating, my friend kindly rushed to get me a glass of milk to soothe my stomach but I was already poisoned.
We told the staff and they rebutted that I should have told them I had food allergies, but normally I am not allergic to anything so I didn't notify them of any issues.
Rude staff, unsympathetic (I could have died and they would have left me there).
Don't go to Base Bistro, that's it.
(Ps: I am spending Saturday afternoon sitting on the bog thanks to this lot, enough said)

Really terrible service last weekend. I tried to order a sandwich at 11:45 (which on the menu said we available from 8 in the morning on) and the waitress said sorry you cant order sandwiches before 12pm (really annoying), so I changed my order to a bagel..she said sorry we're all out. On the third try I finally picked something they could do. My boyfriend took a bite of his eggs benedict and he got a mouthful of shell. The waitress and manager were very unsympathetic. We will not be returning!

I agree with you, I couldn't believe how rude and unsympathetic the staff were, this bistro should not be allowed to continue running.

Pretty over-priced. have visited a few times, im never overly impressed but it is always a decent meal.

I can't believe Base Cafe charge over three quid for side orders - it's such a rip off. I could understand if it were for a huge plate of veggies or fries, but we were charged for a tiddly plate of greens, which you could have got at the supermarket for less than 50p. Yes, the food at Base Cafe was good, but their overpricing policy really spoiled the experience.
