Shocking. A rare family meal was ruined by awful and rude service. Food was average. Wine horribly over-priced.
Still have received no response to our complaints.
Speaking from experience - a fantastic venue for a wedding! Highly recommended. A beautiful wedding setting for both the ceremony and reception. A real bonus was the events manager Oleia and the team who worked extremely hard to ensure the day ran smoothly. Even when a few curve balls were thrown at them by the wedding party they handled everything with extreme professionalism. The friendly and efficient staff created a relaxed atmoshphere and meant that we could all enjoy a stress-free wedding. The bbq food was wonderful, really tasty and plenty of it. Alcohol was also available in abundance with very prompt refills. Everything was well organised and coordinated. Genuinely the guests, family and friends all had a great time and extremely positive comments. Thank you to all at Beauberry House for making a special day wonderful!
An odd one this. Rather impressive from the outside (they make much of their being a wedding venue) with a bright and airy dining room inside one would assume would not be out of place in the ice queen's palace (though white is unforgiving on showing up the dust and chipped paint in places). Dining with a discount card we were told to expect the full al la carte menu but since looking on the Internet I think we were offered the set menu with al la carte pricing. The staff were perfectly pleasant but again a mixed bag of actual service. The waiter was happy to recommend a main dish when asked, then managed to bring the wrong dish to the table but then took the price of a bottle of wine from the final bill as compensation without being asked. The steak and accompanying chips were served perfectly cooked but without an implement actually capable of cutting the meat. We did burn some of the calories we were putting on with hacking at it with the table knife. The atmosphere was pleasant but inattentive, they did not notice when the wine was finished to come and ask if we wanted another bottle. There were 2 fish dishes (which were recommended in other reviews I had read) on the menu that were off, however this information was imparted to us after we had chosen our food (and said dishes) rather than when we were given the menus.
All in all it was not an unpleasant experience but had we not had a discount I think we would have felt sorely ripped off for the money. There are plenty of good restaurants around Dulwich, sadly this one though looking promising adn being well established fails to fully deliver on that promise.
I went to a party there last friday and we had so much fun, and so reasonably priced compared to most places . It was a huge mansion unusually decorated but this added to the feel for the place. I have also beeen to the restraunt which was also really good. As I live round the corner it is a very good local bar/restraunt to have near
What could have possibly induce the management to allow a video screen in the bar? Beauberry House used to be quite cool, but now it's like sitting in a chain pub watching gyrating women on hip hop videos. Zero points for class Beauberry House.
Last night we went for a meal at Beauberry House and I am afraid to say that the experience was deeply disappointing in all respects. On walking into the restaurant we were shocked by the garish and overbearing orange and white decor. It was devoid of atmosphere with irritating muzak in the background. We were ready to walk out before we had even ordered, but decided to give the meal a chance. To start we had prawn sushi, which was no better than sushi I have purchased from a supermarket. For the main course I had beef with black bean sauce and my partner had chicken tereyaki and there was no option of having rice as a side dish. We were left waiting for one of our orders, that had obviously been forgotten.
We reminded the waiter and 10 minutes later the dish eventually arrived. The puddings were slightly redeeming, but not enough to prevent us from feeling very disappointed in Beauberry House and that it was no better than an average high street Chinese.
We visited Belair House for Sunday lunch, and although the building is beautiful (it dates back to the 18th century) it was almost thirty quid for three courses! Now, I don't mind paying out for something really special but to be honest, it was just average. It's a real shame as Belair House is such a lovely venue, but they should either lower their prices or spend more time on the food.
