I read the two positive reviews above with some bemusement - well, let's not understate things; I read them with foaming-at-the-mouth disbelief and can only imagine they were written by the proprietor or the recipient of a bribe - our dismal, infuriating experience could not have been further from these two glowing accounts of this disgracefully inept restaurant. I realise that a party of sixteen is a serious effort to cater to successfully so allowances must be made - however the service at Benja is more or less non-existent. Cocktails took well over an hour to arrive - beer and hilariously bad rose wine were available to plug the gap whilst four or five "singapore slings" (or a loose approximation at any rate) were cobbled together. So we drank. And waited. And waited. After two hours or so one of our party received his hollowed out pineapple overflowing with an unremarkable chicken and rice combination - the minutes ticked away languidly as our other dishes failed to appear. Perhaps an hour after that I received a dish of unseasoned squid with a smear of chilli sauce which was eventually (i had lost track of time by this stage) followed by a perfectly serviceable (though far from "very spicy" as the menu had it) seafood noodle combination, my enjoyment of which was marred only by the sight of other diners either sending stone-cold food back or angrily demanding something, anything, to eat. Last to arrive, over three hours after ordering, was chicken, unaccountably oozing blood - the first taste of anything its recipient had received all evening and enough to make her violently sick. Perhaps Benja is capable of catering to a couple or foursome - though I suspect mediocrity of food and service would still be key to the evening - but it is hopelessly inadequate in every way for a larger group. I implore all readers to go somewhere, anywhere, else.

Benja is a really stunning restaurant. The waitresses are so friendly and always willing to get you whatever you want quick sticks.
The food is gorgeous and so tasty! Its quite a quiet & romantic place to go. Good for Valentines Day!! Recommend this place!

I love Benja! The restaurant itself is super cute, beautifully decorated. The food is gorgeous too and they really care that its actually authentic Thai food. The coconut dessert is amazing. Also the bar in the basement is lovely.
