This evening I took four business associates / friends to the Blue Elephant at Fulham Broadway. This is the second time I have been there. The setting is quite impressive - almost to the point of being a gimmick - and makes for a fun evening. However, this is the second time that I experienced the services is out right rude. First we decided to sit in the lounge and have a drink. However, this turned out to be quite a long ordeal as no one came to serve us after we had been seated and assured someone would come. When I finally went to fetch the waitress (who was hanging out at the bar actively ignoring us), she was quite annoyed that I was bothering her (there were only two other customers there at the time, so I figured it was not really putting her out). But, since we had been waiting for 15+ minutes without any attention I did not know what else to do. Then, at the table it was the same all over. First we sat for near 20 minutes without any sign of attention. Only when I started to get up to find someone did the waitress come by. Except for serving the wrong drinks (we ordered wine by the glass, and they brought out ones that we had not ordered), not offering a single smile throughout the meal, and generally seeming quite bothered by our presence, what annoyed me the most was her refusal to put the net sum of the bill on my card. I must admit I had not intended to leave a tip at all at this point, but if a customer asks, should the waitress not allow him to pay the tip in cash and leave the rest on the card? Well, this waitress told me that there was nothing she could do to help if I wanted to pay by card. Most importantly, the food was the real kicker. They have quite high prices for Thai, and the quality is sub-par compared to most Thai places in London (with the exception of the presentation - they do make the food look very good before you start eating it). I am sad to say, this is going to be one of the very few restaurants not to revis

A la carte- nice, tasty and pretty varied
Buffet- don't be tempted to pay less and go for this mediocre buffet, it really is not what quality thai food is all about. It's like "eat as much as you like" type of buffet with the subsequent poor quality. And I DO love Thai food.

My wife and I had our anniversary at Blue Elephant. Their food was terrific. The environment was excellently elegant. I mentioned I prefered the table in quiet and non-smoking area, and we were allocated to one table just as we expected! We were explained to every dishes and the right way to have them, as this was our first time having Thai food. The service was fabulous, too. All in all, I strongly recommend it as an ideal choice for your special occasion.

The Blue Elephant provided me with the worst dining experience of my life.

The waiter was rude and extremely pushy.

The food was average though expensive. They served our mains at the same time as the starters and when questioned as to why the waiter lied and said we had asked for it to be served that way.

They served us food we didn't order and tried to make us pay for it.

All in all a horrible experience.

This review provided me with the worst literary experience of my life.

The dreadful grammar makes it impossible to derive a sensible meaning out of this average review and the author is plain rude in pushing their own view onto others.

I wouldn't be surprised if the author lied about the issue with the starter/mains just to whinge some more about a perfectly excellent dinning experience.

All in all a horrible review. - Report

I assure you that none of my review is a lie. However I do share your disbelief that they could serve starters and mains at the same time. I appreciate that even though you feel my gramar is appaling you felt my comments were very persuasive. Thank you! From the tone of your post you must be on the pay roll for the Blue Elephant. I can see no other reason why you would try to make an anonymous character assassination rather than posting your own review on how fantastic you obviously think the restaurant is. Afterall, everyone is entitled to their own opinions based on their experiences, and my experience was terrible. For the price, it was by far the worst dining experience of my life!!!!!! Never again would I eat at a Blue Elephant anywhere in the world. - Report

The Blue Elephant is a brilliant place to go with the boyfriend, or girlfriend for that matter. I took mine here for his birthday and we were fully impressed! The beautiful scenery created a wonderful, private atmosphere, although the restaurant was full. The food was good, especially the crab, but I wasn't half as impressed by this as I was by the scenery and service. We were treated like royalty!

The Blue Elephant is worth a visit, if only to see the beautiful fish floating about the river running through the middle. It is wonderfully romantic and rather magical! Take that special someone - you won't regret it.

My girlfriend and I dined at the Blue Elephant last night and to be honest I wasn't impressed. Coming from a chefs background I felt the food at Blue Elephant lacked flare and imagination.

We had the tasting menu at £35.00 each. The first course was great but the second looked like they'd taken the scraps off other plates and put something together last minute. And looking at the photo of Mr Putin by the toilet I don't think he was too happy either.

The Blue Elephant has got to be the most amazing place you will ever see! The atmosphere is perfect and the surroundings are beyond words. The staff were friendly and helpful, but not pushy. Taking advantage of the View London offer meant that the food was even cheaper than for a standard restaurant.

I cannot begin to explain this place with words, you will just have to try it for yourself. But if you want somewhere to take that special person, there cannot be anywhere better than the Blue Elephant.

We went for a birthday celebration at Blue Elephant and ordered a set meal for the whole table. The food was fantastic, but we spent over £600 for 12 of us and we were still hungry. It was almost the same as finger food.

Blue Elephant - I do feel there needs to be a better selection for the pre-set meals and more of it. Value for money was not good.

Love the Blue Elephant. Eat there once a month on a whim or for a special occasion, the Blue Elephant is always good.

Went to Blue Elephant for our anniversary and it was an absolute feast for the senses. When first entering the restaurant, it intially seems to be a normal restaurant but after turning a corner it looks like a giant maze encompassing beautiful plants and a river flowing through it (with fish). The food tasted absolutely delicious and the service was polite, speedy but not annoying. The only downside to this place was the expensive price...but it's still certainly value for money. Blue Elephant is not only the best Thai restaurant in London, but probably one of London's best restaurants, full stop.

Blue Elephant is a jewel in London's crown of Thai restaurants. Thi shas to be one of the best and unique places around to tuck into some nosh.

The Blue Elephant is somewhat Tardis-like from the outside. It looks like a fairly big place from street level but on the inside it stretches on and on - labyrinth-esque amongst plants and trees and bridges over ponds with koi carp and floating baskets. Get the picture?

Food at Blue Elephant is the sort of overly delicious Thai fare that one is expecting having stepped into such a Far Eastern paradise, cocktails too are miraculously tasty and the service is what you would expect. It's expensive though but what do you expect of a place that has a picture of Vladimir Putin visiting it in the corridor to the toilets?

Conclusion: Blue Elephant is a leafy, jungly, unique dining experience delivering its Eastern promise.

We went to The Blue Elephant for my sister's birthday as she recently came back from a holiday in Thailand and wanted the rest of us who haven't been to capture some of the experience.

Not only was the service at The Blue Elephant absolutely first class which is rare in London, but the food was delicious and you don't mind paying £50 a head for excellent service, great food (3 courses including wine), lovely decor and atmosphere.

Although, my one and only complaint would be that it was a little chilly inside, but as the staff are so intuitive to their customers needs, without saying anything they brought over a fan heater to the table because I had my scarf on!

It was fabulous, make sure you book though, everyone who has been there before will be doing the same!

After discovering the Blue Elephant on ViewLondon I booked a table online. Not only did I receive a confirmation e-mail but also got a phone call. This was to typify the level of service on the night.

Immaculately turned out, the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure whether the interior would be tacky or not but it is absolutely magnificent. The rivers, bridges and 'jungle' have been created with no corners cut and help to create a great scene to eat dinner.

Yes the prices are higher than standard Thai restaurants but the food, service and experience is well worth it.
I would very much recommend the Blue Elephant - I would not hesitate in going back again, and I live in Aberdeen!

The Blue Elephant is a stunning place! Although it is quite large it is sectioned with bridges and a river separating areas. The food was wonderful. Yes the Blue Elephant was expensive but in my opinion well worth it. The ambience makes it perfect for a romantic meal for two but it is equally suitable for group parties! The staff cater to your every whim and make the experience even more enjoyable.

Blue Elephant is a wonderful Thai restaurant in Fulham. Big menu - the baby corn is wicked. Blue Elephant is great for veggies like my bird who doesn't like meat - but she likes a bit of sausage.

The Blue Elephant is a brilliant restaurant. It looks like a Thai palace in a jungle, there's also a river running through it. I came here for my birthday and it was fabulous, they treat you like royalty. the food is good but nothing brilliant and even though it was expensive, you pay for the whole experience and it was well worth the money.

Definitely go here, but it's probably best for special occasions.
