I work around the corner from this restaurant and have eaten here many times. The service has always been speedy and delightful and the food is great. Today's special mackerel terrine was delicious. The cod fillet on beans is always superb. And the stroganoff is always good.
The place is always busy, but even when I haven't booked they have managed to find a table for two. In summary, a great place for a smart business lunch.

Very average food and service, not worth a second visit.
We had some very stodgy gnocchi so hot that they looked as if they had just come out of a microwave oven.
As soon as we had our meal we were told to leave the table, although we were not told at the time of the booking to leave by a certain time. Definitely not going back.

I visited September 7th 2010 as I live in Eastbourne and do not get to London that often but my husband and brother who was visiting from Australia really enjoyed the meal at lunchtime. We had steak and it was so tender and delicious, the service was excellent and my brother was very made up to have his photo taken with a beautiful waitress as reminder of his visit to England. I will visit again very soon and again next year when my brother makes another visit to England from Australia.
