We went to Brasserie St Jacques for a family birthday celebration, 11 in the party in total, we used the private dining area ( basically a large alcove at the back of the restaurant).

There had been weeks of menu discussion prior to the evening, hampered by the managers poor communication skills and inability to reply to emails

The restaurant had two other covers in that evening and yet the service was condescending and unfriendly.

The manager treated us as if we weren't used to eating in restaurants of that supposed standard.

In fact half the party live in Europe and are only too accustomed to excellent food and service, the other half have all eaten in some of the best restaurants in the country, the day before we lunched at Gordon Ramsey at Claridges, excellent I hasten to add.

The food was average but portions small, we requested side plates for our bread, three appeared.

Extra potatoes were requested, only to be told that they weren't meant to accompany that dish, he did however bring some informing us that they wouldn't charge, a ridiculous comment as the the place would have been empty on a Saturday night but for us, and, the wine was more than flowing, they would hardly have been out of pocket.

Overall very disappointing
