This is the worst dinner and the worst service I ever had in London! Dont go! We waited 50 minutes to get a burger with a burned beef, cold and undercooked chips with a bit of lettuce on the side. When I asked the waiter whether food was on the way after having waited 45 minutes, I received a 'that's not my fault'. No apologies when they served the food or when we paid. Oh, yeah and then it's freezing...
My girlfriend was referred to this hidden bar from a friend and decided to try it before the Vampire Weekend show at Brixton Academy. Been to every other venue in the area in the past. Turns out that this was the perfect place to hit before the show, atmoshere is quite urban and kind of rough and cosy- kind of a rock and roll vibe going on. Very eclectic mix of music from 80's to electro, they even snuck a Johnny Cash track in there. The food is hearty, and even though the place was packed, our dinner was delivered pretty quick although I would advise getting here early for dinner if you want to get a table because it fills up fast. Good selection of draft beers and spirits and nice staff who were keen to get us what we needed before the show. You can even shoot a game of American Pool in the back room. Dangerous. I love this venue and will def return. Love and Light:)
This place is as edgy as anything I've witnessed in Shoreditch- except for one thing... it's in Brixton. Went with three friends for drinks and a meal here before the Jamie T show at the O2 last week and it was a nice night out. Burgers are pretty ace and the service was informal but nice. Staff appear to be quite cool and with it, and I can say ask for bartender Douglas to make you the best Mojito I've tasted in these parts ever. For sure we'll be coming back next time there's a show at the Academy. Definitely a rare find.
I had my birthday dinner party here last month and it was brilliant. Going out in Clapham is getting a bit tired for my mates, so I'm happy to find a place nearby to get stuck into cocktails and chunes- this place has got character which made for a memorable, fun night out with mates. Tasty grill menu and a lovely steak which I had!
popped in before pogues at brixton academy. awful awful awful. one of the bar staff walked out because the owner was shouting at her. this left them under staffed and clearly couldnt cope. we were overcharged and then had to wait an age for food. when it came it did so in drips and drabs. we ate slowly but finished everything and still my main hadnt arrived. i asked the owner how long it would be and it felt like he threatened me! On asking for a refund he said “ Dont make this worse than it already is, Do you want me to just throw it away, sit down”! What a shambles. NEVER EVER EVER going near the place again. Shame as it's a great location and the pizza place that was there a few years ago was class. 0/10.
BBAG tries to be too many things....the food has gone downhill too, staff are nice enough but it looks tired, its not great in the summer and its not the cosiest place for Sunday lunch in the winter either.
Lots of other better pubs in Brixton/Clapham - worth a visit if you're stopping off for a drink before going to the Academy. That's about it...feels a bit depressing, like a bar in a rubbish holiday resort.
We went to Brixton Bar and Grill for a works team night out to play on the Wii. The owner made sure we were all set up and kept the drinks coming when needed. A great session, and the food was just what we needed to soak up the beer.
Want a night out in Brixton with decent tunes but don't want to jump up and down in a dark and sweaty room? This place is just the ticket; great cocktails, tasty food which is very fairly priced and a friendly crowd . . . part of the new breed of Brixton bar (check out the Hive which is closeby too) which is ideal for the more discerning punter who still has his/her clubbing shoes but doen't wear them every weekend!
I had my birthday drinks at BBAG a few months ago and I love the place. I can't think of a better bar south of the river. The cocktails are fab and fairly reasonably priced and the atmosphere is great. (I had my bash on a sat, but fridays are equally good). It attracts a really nice friendly crowd, which can be rare for London these days. If you fancy a night out listening to some wicked music then I can't recommend this place highly enough.
GREAT fun night out! Food is as good as many expensive restaurants, lovely crowd and the staff could not be more friendly!
Came here years ago and am amazed how the new management has turned it around.
came here a couple of fridays ago and found the staff to be really lovely, and the dj was playing some of the best funk and hiphop i've ever heard - me and my mates danced until 230 am... will definately be making this a regular night out!
This place is fantastic. Was looking for a nice place to meet friends a couple of weeks ago and was recommended this little gem. It's a great alternative if you want a nice bar, great cocktails, awesome food and brilliant atmosphere. The staff were really friendly, something quite rare in London. Will definitely be heading back again.
Though Brixton Bar Grill does have some good points, I stopped drinking there quiet some time ago. The reason? Well they cancelled my birthday party only several hours before it was supposed to start.
Despite having made a booking weeks in advance for over 50 people, I was told that the manager had made a double booking by verbally offering the venue to someone without checking for bookings. Though the staff admitted that my booking was the original one to be made and properly recorded under the sysem, the manager would still not honour it. (The manager himself did not have the courtesy to ring me and apologise.)
Understandably I've not wanted to return/give them any more of my money since. If this is how they treat someone that used to be a regular it can give you an idea of their customer service. Draw your own conclusions. Brixton offers much more genuine places to pass away your evening.
i couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewers. My trip to Brixton Bar and Grill was really a very unsatisfcactory experience.
The main issue being a waitress for whom everything was too much trouble - she huffed when we wanted to order, scowled when we asked for ketchup and only spoke when we informed her she had over-charged us by £20 when we came to settle the bill.
the venue looks nice but the music is too loud to be able to talk in this place and the drinks are massivle overpriced (more than £5 for a spirit and mixer!)
i give it one star for the food, which was actually extremely tasty. however, everything else lets it down.
The Brixton Bar and Grill is an oasis of cool in Brixton. A great place for a meal during the week and buzzing at the weekends too with great music. Staff really make you feel welcome and add to the great atmosphere.
The Brixton Bar and Grill is a delicious little place with a nice atmosphere and some delicious (and cheap) tapas. If you're from Brixton then I'm sure you'll know about this place but if you're not, then the Brixton Bar and Grill is definitely worth a little treck.
The Brixton Bar and Grill is something you might not expect in Brixton - a genuinely nice restaurant serving dishes created with fresh ingredients. I was really impressed with the Brixton Bar and Grill.
