What a disappointing place! We had a party booking booked however 4 out of the 15 were late and we unable to proceed without them. (Strange!) However they turned up half an hour late and we were told we had to wait until the chef was ready. Two hours later (I don't know why we stayed!) we started to get served our bland starter. Then the main...yummy.....er NOT! Tasteless stew chicken (I think) and the rice and peas was shameful. It was boiled rice with a can of kidney beans chucked in. The one star rating is for the goodvmusic entertainment and the staff minus the rude GIRL at the front desk. Save your money and time! This place does not deserve to be open and serving "carribean" food it's an insult.

Dropped into Brown Sugar on Sunday night to check out a new band that are playing every week and was not disappointed they were great. Sophisticated jazz funk. But unfortunately I can’t say the same for the venue. Friendly staff serving expensive drinks and very expensive bad food. The tired buffet was £20 a head (should have been nearer to £5 then maybe the place would have had some diners). We ordered a selection of bar meals (tapas size) at £4.95 each accompanied by stale white bread. The chicken wings and ribs were caked in the same sticky sauce, the 2 curry dishes (fish and chickpea) each had the same bland chilli powder taste and as for our fifth dish, the so called king prawns, were so tough they chewed like tough steak and appeared to have been reheated at least 3 times. Our bill including one G&T, a mango juice and one pint of larger was over £37.

On arriving at resteraunt , found it very clean , music a tad loud but enjoyable. Not much presence of staff there.
I ate there with my siblings and mum.
Food:- The ackee and salt fish was mushy and too salty, but everything else was very tasty. The coleslaw was delicious.
The food looked nice and was nicely presented and looked appertising (apart from the ackee). We had the set menu and for me who is a vegeterian, not much choice on this set menu, considering we paid £20 per head. The desert choices were poor and they could have offered a better variety.
Staff:- Need to be more attentive.
Overall, I thought this place has potential but needs to offer more variety on their set menu.
