Went here in October and was disappointed. It's not as good as it used to be. I'm not sure why standards have dropped, maybe this is due to a new restaurant opening in central Croydon. The decor has been slightly modernised, although the 2 seater table by the bar does not have a proper seat, just a wonky stool. Unfortunately this was where we were placed. I asked to be moved to a different table because of this, and the waiter said he would try to arrange this for us but was unable to. It took a while for us to make our food order due to the waiting staff being busy, but once we had, the food arrived very quickly. We ordered a bottle of wine, a starter each and a main meal each. Due to the speed of service, the meal was finished in 1 hour 25 minutes. The bill came to £80 which is alot of money to spend in that space of time! The food portions are generous but I feel over priced for the standard of food. Although you are guaranteed a lively atmosphere, and this was the case on this visit, I would hesitate to go there again as it was over priced and the service was not up to scratch. I hope they can improve as I have enjoyed it in the past.
