Had a small party at bumpkin with some friends from out of town, I had heard some good things about the place and i am very pleased to say that the experience surpassed any expectations I had.
From the moment i made the booking, with helen who by the way was unbelievably helpful, she made me confident that my event was going to be smooth running and I was inspired by her her enjoyment to make my catch up the best it could be. To the moment i left the place, after 1st meeting with Helen feeling looked after, assured and cared about. all in all a wonderful place to hold my party.
It turned out I had amazing canapes, great staff and a smooth, no stress catch up with my friends.
I strongly recommend helen and her team
cant thank you enough

Had a great time here for a friend's birthday party. This is a perfect place to book a private room/floor (the attic in our case) for a large group, with reasonable and delicious set menu for 25 a head. Only complaint was that some of the meat portions were quite small, but my fish pie was very filling and tasty.
Lovely, responsive staff and nice, understated, relaxed venue. Have been several times and will return.
Wow the previous reviews are not so great, have to say I was a bit worried when my friend said lets have a dinner there. So I went not expecting much and came away blown away. What a great little place, different floors, private party room and at the top what they call the Attic which had been transformed into a fantasy room and had a pop up supper club that night. The staff were lovely and were promoting English Wine week and it was nice to see a British restaurant with such a great display of British wines and seasonal goodies. That was only the atmosphere, now to get to the food. very very good, I had the smoked chicken salad to start which was something I don't usually order but my friend and I have a deal that when we go out we are not aloud to order anything that we can cook at home. It was smoky and sour and crunchy lovely combination. I had rainbow trout for main course with the best potatoes, they were purple! Heritage I believe not sure how they became purple. No space for dessert but we had a nice port to finish the evening off.
I would suggest the previous reviewers possibly give Bumpkin another try as it is a neighbourhood gem and I have to restaurants that have an off night.
Well done Bumpkin, we will be back.
We went to Bumpkin on Saturday night for a family birthday and to say I was not impressed would be an understatement:
1) There were no beers available except Carling (All the specials were off)
2) Half the food menu was off - my first, second and third choices were not available.
3) When we ordered drinks they took in excess of 30 minutes to come - it does not take half an hour to make a cocktail!
4) The service and attitude of the staff was abysmal. When I asked the waitress what was actually available instead of trying to order something that was not, she ignored me. They even tried to charge use ofr drinks at the end that we wanted but told were not available. Unsurprisngly, we refused to pay the optional service charge!
The only thing that prevents me rating Bumpkin as a one star experience was the food that was available to us was delicious. The quality of the meal was excellent - shame about the rest of the restaurant.
Unfortunately, I had lunch here yesterday. Service haphazard, dishes came at the wrong time, in the wrong order, to the wrong people (there were only two tables occupied). The standard of food was appalling; stale bread (£2.50), overcooked haddock, burnt chips, they couldn't even get the basics right. After two complaints to which I only got an uninterested 'really?' from the waitress, they still added 12.5% gratuity to the bill (£83 for two, with no desserts). All in all, a terrible experience.
The setting is relaxed and informal; however, the outside tables are a pointless distraction unless you are interested in monitoring traffic flows on Westbourne Park Road. Food is OK, but expensive given the quality. Don't bother if you want to drink beer, my pint was so cloudy it looked like it had been poured at the foot of an Icelandic volcano. The wine list is mediocre and service spasmodic.
All in all a great night out.
I was quite disappointed. We arrived just after 7pm so as to get a table in the brasserie. We were immediately offered water but then struggled to get a waiter to take our order... they stagger things for the kitchen. So we finally ordered a starter hoping to tide us over, but this meant that we just waited longer anyway. So maybe the food is made fresh but if you wait 20 minutes to order and are then told the pie takes in excess of 30 minutes and one waits about an hour anyway, it all seems quite pointless. The 1.50 charge for bread seems rather cheeky, if one has to wait for so long, they could at least give you something a little to tide you over!!! The longest dinner I've had and not in a good way. Certainly won't be back.
Fascinating spin on British cuisine with the occasional French or Italian influence added. Upmarket, perhaps a little pretentious but the food is delicious so I won't quibble.
I took some colleagues to dinner on Weds night to Bumpkin and we had a fantastic night! The food was home cooked, wholesome and delicious and their was a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend it!
Bumpkin has very average food, and a limited and overpriced menu. The open kitchen means that the whole restaurant smells of cooking, as do your clothes when you leave. The staff are unhelpful and barely speak any English. Bumpkin is extremely disappointing.
I have been to Bumpkin twice in the last two weeks, for no other reason than I loved it!
First of all the Sunday lunch was an amazing roast and the atmosphere was great. And then for dinner last week. Bumpkin have truly tasty food and friendly staff.
I went to Bumpkin last Sunday and the service was painful to say the least. Our waitress could barely speak English and wasn't even sure if they served soda water. Salmon was on the specials board and three of my party ordered it for a main meal. However when it arrived it actually turned out to be a starter. We weren't advised this was the case initially so we had to order extra vegetables to compensate.
The table was warped and so all evening cutlery and plates kept sliding onto the floor. The waiter responded with a few bits of paper folded up placed under our plates. We also asked for bread and the waitress placed the breadbasket in front of one of the diners and not in the middle of the table which was quite insulting.
I wanted to support Bumpkin as a local restaurant but they are charging high prices for homecooked food that is overpriced and certainly not hearty portions.
I ate at Bumpkin on Tuesday night and it was the best meal I've had in London. The crowd were buzzy and the staff were absolutely lovely. I ate with a party of five and we all agreed it was fabulous. If you appreciate steak you'll especially love it at Bumpkin.
Bumpkin is cool! I loved it. The place is great, the food simple but tasty, the staff were nice and not snobby as they usually are in Nottinghill and Chelsea. Bumpkin also had great cocktails. I can only say you must go.
I can't wait for Bumpkin to open. The place looks so good as I walk home. The whiskys sound fab and the fact that it will be like a country style venue really appeals to me. I just hope that Bumpkin is not really a cheesy take on the faux country style pub.
