Quite a Bumpkin regular as its close to my work to meet friends for dinner. They have a new Spring menu and has great dishes and lots of choice for meat and veggie lovers. I am vegetarian but my friends eat meat the Cheese souffle and the Spinach and nettle tart were divine. Service was as usual lovely and smiley. Heard the pearl barley risotto is a winner, can't wait to go back!

We were disappointed in the food, and not won over by the service. Our lamb chop was very bony and should have been set aside for stew. The steak & ale pie was OK but the crust was blah, not at all flaky. They apparently ran out of homemade bread, because our smoked mackerel appetizer was served with a square slice of whole-wheat sandwich bread, and we got more of the same with our side order of bread! To top it off, we were seated close enough to the kitchen to overhear the chef getting testy with the waiters, which at that point didn't seem as amusing as it might otherwise.

Went here for a large group Sunday roast lunch with children. Staff were quite tolerant, food was great and atmosphere perfect. Definitely a keeper on the local venue list!

Comfort food at its best. Friendly staff and a relaxed atomosphere, an absolute favourite anytime.
